Ed Note: Thanks for all your emails concerning "where is Bertrand" but as I explained last week, I would likely venture into areas of no Verizon coverage. Spent a week in a small canyon area next to a stream with no TV, internet, FM radio, and no cell service. However, my shortwave radio got me by and I must say....the news this past week was enormous ! The headliner is the Seth Rich murder probe by both World Net Daily (WND) and Jerome Corsi at InforWars. Both are being condemned and censored as the former DNC chairwoman is attempting to recover Seth Rich's laptop from D.C. Metro Police, and so far without success. That laptop confirms Seth Rich communicated with Julian Assange and transferred DNC emails to him and basically exonerates Russian hacking and influence of the election. The Seth Rich probe (assassination) can easily link Hillary Clinton and Podesta to his murder. Jerome Corsi now fears for his life and will have further evidence next week on Infowars. Dave Bertrand

Philippines special forces launched an attack on Islamist militant positions in Marawi City early Thursday morning in a bid to retake the city from the ISIS-affiliated Maute group. The operation involved ground troops supported by attack helicopters. "We're confronting maybe 30 to 40 remaining from the local terrorist group," said Jo-Ar Herrera, spokesman for the military's First Infantry Regiment, as cited by Reuters.
Greek media reports that an explosion targeting the car of former Greek prime minister and central banker Lucas Papademos was reported on Thursday afternoon, at roughly 6.30 p.m.local time, in central Athens. According to Naftemporiki Papademos was transferred to an Athens hospital after what appeared to be a letter bomb explosion inside the armored-plated car where he was a passenger.
The family of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot at least six times by an FBI agent in his Orlando apartment during a routine interrogation in May 2013, is suing federal and state parties they believe to be responsible for the man’s death. Todashev, who is believed to be an acquaintance of alleged Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot dead during an FBI interrogation in which he was questioned about the terror attack and possible involvement in a 2011 triple murder.

US Army lost track of $1 billion worth of arms and equipment in Iraq, Kuwait
RT - A newly released declassified audit from the US Department of Defense shows that negligent accounting by the military has resulted in the Pentagon not knowing what happened to more than $1 billion in arms and equipment meant for the Iraqi Army. The Office of Inspector General for the Pentagon's findings from September 2016 was made public Wednesday as a result of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from human rights group Amnesty International. Over $1 billion worth of arms and military equipment designated under the Iraq Train and Equip Fund (ITEF) and meant to assist the Iraqi government in combatting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), was not accounted for, the DOD audit found. The Army’s 1st Theater Sustainment Command “did not have effective controls to maintain complete visibility and accountability of ITEF equipment in Kuwait and Iraq prior to transfer to the Government of Iraq,” the audit said. “This audit provides a worrying insight into the US Army’s flawed – and potentially dangerous – system for controlling millions of dollars worth of arms transfers to a hugely volatile region,” Patrick Wilcken, Amnesty International’s Arms Control and Human Rights Researcher, said in the announcement on the group’s website. It makes for especially sobering reading given the long history of leakage of US arms to multiple armed groups committing atrocities in Iraq, including the armed group calling itself the Islamic State.”
NATO allies must pay more to tackle terrorism, immigration & Russia – Trump
RT - Terrorism, migration and threats allegedly coming from Russia were named by US President Donald Trump as the main issues demanding NATO's focus and funds, as he spoke at his first meeting with the military alliance as America’s leader. "The NATO of the future must include a great focus on terrorism and immigration, as well as threats from Russia, and on NATO's eastern and southern borders," Trump said on Thursday, speaking in Brussels at a ceremonial unveiling of a memorial to the victims of the September 2001 terrorist attacks. Paul Joseph Watson - Terror expert Erick Stakelbeck says that fears over “political correctness” prevented associates and neighbors of Manchester bomber Salman Abedi from reporting him to authorities despite clear signs that Abedi was a dangerous jihadist. Amazingly, Abedi hanged an ISIS flag from the roof of his house that was visible to his neighbors but none of them reported him to the police. He was also heard loudly chanting Islamic prayers in the street but this did not raise alarms either, nor did the innumerable people visiting his house at all hours of the day and night. Fox News host Shannon Bream asked Stakelbeck if neighbors’ fear of appearing “racist” or “bigoted” might have prevented them from raising the alarm. “Political correctness is going to be the death of us, it’s been the death of far too many people,” he responded, adding that moderate Muslims were also not identifying extremists in their communities for fear of retribution.

Paul Joseph Watson - [UK broadcaster Channel 4] visited a Muslim community in south Manchester to get their take on the Islamic terror attack that killed 23 people and injured 120 others. Viewers were immediately drawn to a woman wearing a full black veil with only her eyes visible. The woman’s clothing had the word “love” emblazoned on it, but on closer inspection, the letters are made up of a machine gun and a hand grenade. Asked by host Krishnan Guru-Murthy about her “reactions and feelings” in the aftermath of the horrific attack, the woman said she didn’t “need to prove anything”. Asked if she thought there would be a backlash against Muslims, the woman responded that the backlash had “already started” and that “Islamophobia will probably rise now”. Guru-Murthy then quizzed the woman on whether such “Islamophobia” will cause young Muslim men to feel more “isolated”. “What do you think? I mean, obviously hate with hate, people will retaliate obviously,” she responded. Other Muslims interviewed for the segment denied that they needed to do any more to rout out radicalization within their community, with one man claiming Muslims, “are the ones who are collateral damage of this kind of attack.” Channel 4 removed the entire segment from their website without explanation, prompting accusations that the broadcaster was attempting to cover-up the true attitudes of Muslims towards the Manchester attack.

Tunnels at US-Mexico Border Show Smugglers' Deep Commitment
San Diego -- Drug smugglers trying to tap into the United States' highly profitable market have developed all kinds of secretive routes to deliver their illicit goods. One tactic is to go underground.
At the U.S.-Mexico border, tunnels are a popular means of transporting illegal marijuana --- a bulky drug whose distinctive odor makes it hard to get past drug-sniffing dogs and other security at border checkpoints and airports. Since 1990, more than 220 tunnels have been discovered there, including 60 in the area overseen by the U.S. Border Patrol's San Diego office.
"You see, it's an industrial area," agency spokesman Jose Hernandez says in explaining its attraction to traffickers.
"We see many warehouses and many trucks passing by. It is common to see them at two in the afternoon or the morning," he adds. “It happens many times. So what [traffickers] do is they hide where everyone can see them anyway."
Noise from constant truck traffic on the American side and dense urban construction on the Mexican side conceal the construction of secret tunnels. [...]
To aid its detective work, the Border Patrol uses an assortment of complex tools, including ground-penetrating radar and sensors.

Don't try tunneling under the Rio Grande
Last year the NY Times suggested that smugglers could defeat wall plans: As Donald Trump Calls for Wall on Mexican Border, Smugglers Dig Tunnels.
Most border tunnels are dug near San Diego and Nogales where heavy traffic masks digging and use - and there are places on both sides of the border near enough to offer access. This is just not so on most of the border.
As I pointed out in response to the Times story, American Border Patrol has been testing technology that could easily detect tunneling on at least 90% of the border between El Paso and San Diego.
And, my advice to smugglers: Don't try tunneling under the Rio Grande River.
