CHARLESTON, WV -  All too often, gun owners find themselves trapped between the laws of a state and a maze of confusing and inconsistent local rules imposed by anti-gun municipalities. In West Virginia, that's especially true.

HB 2760, a bill by Delegate Rupert Phillips, Jr., would fix that problem by eliminating laws that are inconsistent with the State's, such as by:

• ending the three day waiting period for all firearms purchases in Charleston;
• getting rid of firearm registration in Charleston;
• eliminating the one handgun a month limit in Charleston;
• removing rules that prohibit open carry in Charleston, Martinsburg, and Dunbar;
• invalidating laws prohibiting firearm possession on city property in Charleston, Martinsburg, and Dunbar; and
• invalidating all other local gun ordinances in all other WV cities and counties.

The law, if passed, would also impose tough penalties on local governments who try and circumvent the law.

Next week the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on two of the most critical cases of our time. On Tuesday, March 26, attorneys will make the pitch both for and against California’s Proposition 8. This, of course, is the Golden State’s pro-marriage amendment. It maintained the timeless definition of natural marriage as between man and wife. Then, on Wednesday, March 27, the high court will consider the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), passed in 1996 with overwhelming bipartisan support and signed into law by then President Bill Clinton. It, likewise, secured the definition of legitimate marriage for purposes of federal law. Although both cases certainly address a multitude of legal and political issues, they also involve a number of moral and cultural considerations that, if wrongly decided, will literally shake Western civilization to the core. The stakes could not be higher. Of central concern is whether the Supreme Court will put its official stamp of approval on that cartoonish contradiction-in-terms labeled “same-sex marriage.” Ultimately, these nine justices will decide either to recklessly deconstruct, radically redefine and render functionally trivial the age-old institution of natural marriage – or leave it alone. Comment: A really terrific audio From Pastor Gallups.  Aside from discussing the reputed 1/2 sister of Mr. Obama, he says about Allen West...""..so Allen West, this so called champion of the conservative cause, he hears and sees the very same stuff and here's his reaction:  "Well, I can't do anything with this because I might want to run for political office"....I kid you not...And that's what's wrong with Washington. You know, and because he's supposed to be the champion of the conservative movement, So people are fooled by him.  He's not near the man you might think he is.  I'm telling you. I was THERE with him for 3-4 days.  Now he may change; he may come around. He might wind up being a huge champion of this movement, especially...and here's what's going to happen, you watch...Some of these other people that he doesn't even know about, are going to come forward and make this into a big deal...They're going to start being heroes with the American public...and Allen West is going to pile on saying Oh yeah I was there all along.  You watch.  But I'll call him out on it.  there's my Allen West morsel." ...and more.
