Many Americans were shocked when they heard news of a lone gunman opening fire on Congressional Republicans practicing for the Congressional baseball game early Wednesday morning.

The now-deceased shooter, James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, was identified quickly as a Bernie Sanders campaign volunteer and a member of numerous anti-Trump Facebook groups.

While politicians and Americans took to Twitter to offer their thoughts and prayers to the victims, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, others took to Twitter to boast about how Republicans had it coming . . .

Reports: Deceased Gunman Identified as 66-Year-Old Illinois Man

James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Illinois, identified by law enforcement officials as the gunman who opened fire on Republican lawmakers at a Virginia baseball field, has died from his injuries, President Donald Trump said Wednesday. "The assailant has now died from his injuries," Trump said in comments about the shooting. Hodgkinson, reportedly an avid supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders, was shot and mortally wounded by police before being taken into custody.
