Obamacare’s Pro-Abortion HHS Mandate Will be Headed to the Supreme Court
It’s only a matter of time until the Supreme Court holds hearings on a lawsuit related to the Obamacare HHS mandate that compels religious groups and businesses to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs.

Botched RU 486 Abortions Injure 42 Women in Ohio as Planned Parenthood Defies FDA
Today, Ohio Right to Life urged Attorney General Mike DeWine to expedite the litigation against Planned Parenthood and its practice of off-label prescribing the abortion pill RU-486 (mifepristone) in Ohio. This request comes in light of 42 reports of failed uses of the drug in the state.

The Food and Drug Administration recommends that RU-486 (commonly referred to as a chemical abortion) be administered in two doses orally and in the presence of a physician. One of the men in charge on the Russian side was named V. M.; he had a wife named T.M.

V. was a level-headed scientist while his wife was rather deeply committed to the losing Communist cause - a cause she obviously was not abandoning.

One evening, during a trip early in 1992, the American half of our venture were invited to V. & T.'s Moscow flat as we were about to return to the States. The party went well and we had the normal dinner discussions.

Justices on the New Mexico Supreme Court have ruled that the First Amendment does not protect the beliefs of Christians, and owners of a photography company in that state must violate their faith in order to continue to do business.

“The Huguenins today can no more turn away customers on the basis of sexual orientation – photographing a same-sex marriage ceremony – than they could refuse to photograph African-Americans or Muslims,” the opinion from the court said.

A friend, legislative colleague and fellow history buff leant me this book some time ago, but it took me until now to read it. As a Marine Vietnam vet, I tend to space out my reading on Vietnam because it is painful and bitter. This excellent book is more bitter than most. I’m going to read a novel by Tom Kratman next, as I know more bad guys will get killed than good guys, and I need the respite. I didn’t expect this to replace Bernard Fall’s Hell in a Very Small Place, but Valley of Death will now be the standard work on Dien Bien Phu. It puts the battle in the context of what led up to it, the world wide strategic and diplomatic situation, and the aftermath. Switching between the horrific fighting and conditions and the diplomats haggling in comfort in Geneva is especially telling. Morgan is especially good at including telling personal incidents from both sides. His dedication, “This book is for all the soldiers sent to die in battle by politicians who have never seen combat,” is especially poignant. I highly recommend reading this history.

Israel warns US: Alienating Egyptian army could risk peace talks

Daily Beast quotes US senator as saying Obama administration has decided to temporarily suspend military aid to Egypt.

Israel has urged the US to back the Egyptian military, saying losing Egypt to Islamists could pose a risk the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

According to an Israeli official quoted by the paper, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have traditionally played an important role in providing the Palestinians the support to stay in the negotiations and to make concessions, and without them there is a chance the talks will fail.

Larry Summers and the Secret "End-Game" Memo

When a little birdie dropped the End Game memo through my window, its content was so explosive, so sick and plain evil, I just couldn't believe it.

The Memo confirmed every conspiracy freak’s fantasy: that in the late 1990s, the top US Treasury officials secretly conspired with a small cabal of banker big-shots to rip apart financial regulation across the planet. When you see 26.3% unemployment in Spain, desperation and hunger in Greece, riots in Indonesia and Detroit in bankruptcy, go back to this End Game memo, the genesis of the blood and tears.

The Treasury official playing the bankers’ secret End Game was Larry Summers. Today, Summers is Barack Obama’s leading choice for Chairman of the US Federal Reserve, the world’s central bank. If the confidential memo is authentic, then Summers shouldn’t be serving on the Fed, he should be serving hard time in some dungeon reserved for the criminally insane of the finance world.

The memo is authentic.

Convince Congress to Defund ObamaCare

Back in late July Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, and a few other conservative senators started a new initiative to defund ObamaCare with a continuing resolution. Now, a month later, Senator Lee is definitely staying the course and continuing to promote the defunding of ObamaCare.

Since Congress hasn’t gotten its annual appropriations bills for fiscal 2014 passed, and since the new fiscal year begins on October 1, it’s highly likely that the federal government will be funded for the time being with a continuing resolution, as has become routine in recent years. Senator Lee’s idea is to get the House to introduce a continuing resolution that funds the government at the same level as 2013, but with a provision (that’s either in the original bill or added by amendment) that completely defunds any spending on ObamaCare in 2014.

If the House would pass such a continuing resolution, then the Senate would have the choice of passing the same bill that would defund ObamaCare, or refuse to pass it and thereby potentially force a government shutdown.

Senator Lee’s proposal, as stated in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, was initially supported by 17 senators, but after several establishment Republicans lashed out at Lee’s proposal, five senators dropped their support. At about the same time in late July, more than 60 Republicans in the House signed a letter urging Speaker John Boehner "to defund the implementation and enforcement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in any relevant appropriations bill brought to the House floor in the 113th Congress, including any continuing appropriations bill."
