Remember
that a while back we started reading that Russia had inked two kinds of
monumental deals with the Saudis, namely, 6 nuclear power contracts and
a deal for sale of Iskander missiles.
This
really knocked my socks off at the time and I realized that the
speculation that the Saudis were aiming to break Russia by cheapening
oil was not quite holding water.
What I
suspect was happening at that time was that Russia and the Saudis had a
deal whereby the Saudis for their part would raise the price of oil to
Asia just enough to keep Russia competitive in China while keeping it
low in the West to discourage the fledgling fracking industry.

MGM Resorts witness says Nevada Power is 'over-earning,' tone deaf to economy

CARSON CITY — A witness for MGM Resorts International is highly critical of Nevada Power Co. in testimony filed with the state Public Utilities Commission, saying that the gaming company intends to proceed with its application to leave the utility as a retail customer despite the potential of having to pay an "exit fee" of as much as $90 million.
The casino company's witness called Nevada Power tone-deaf and "significantly over-earning" for several years.

President Barack Obama drew a line in the sand on budget caps during his weekly address to the country. Citing the latest employment report to argue that the economy has improved, he threatened to veto any budget produced by the Republican-controlled Congress that keeps spending in check.
Most Republican presidential candidates have expressed a willingness to get rid of the budget caps put in place by the Budget Control Act of 2011. Likewise, as Josh Withrow recently explained, Republican leaders in Congress are looking for ways to undermine the caps. While the Budget Control Act was not perfect, it is the only meaningful accomplishment since 2011, when Republicans took control of the House of Representatives, that limits government. Geddes, who is also a government employee at UNR, has been caught
red-handed plagiarizing a California think tank’s report in a 1995 college
dissertation.
The Las Vegas
Review-Journal reports that Geddes’ paper included “pages of paragraphs
being copied exactly” without quote marks or attribution.
The dishonorable cheater, however, claims it wasn’t plagiarism
“because dissertations aren’t widely read, the copied work was accurate and the
copied language wasn’t creative.”
Apparently Mr. Geddes majored in “What Is Is” at UNR.
