Under ObamaCare: Abortion access is growing – even into our public schools; Healthcare costs now exceed many families’ budgets while services will soon have to be rationed; Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi overlooked a critical funding detail in their 2,000+ page bill and now the IRS may have to step in to “help”; the Medicaid rolls of states will expand 20 to 50 percent and could not be supported even with a thriving economy; and there are still no conscience protections for prolife healthcare facilities and service providers under ObamaCare.

After pausing on Thursday to give God thanks for our many blessings and joining loved ones to celebrate this wonderful American tradition, I will then be praying that He would deliver our nation from the CURSE of ObamaCare.

    A bill introduced by Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA) could save taxpayers billions by preventing illegal immigrants from claiming tax credits intended for American citizens and legal residents.
    Under current law, the Internal Revenue Service allows individuals filing with an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) to access the child tax credit and the additional child tax credit, allowing those in the country illegally to receive the credits.
    "These tax credits were never meant for illegal immigrants," said Kingston. "Closing this loophole is a commonsense measure that will save taxpayers billions. At the same time, it cuts off an incentive for those here illegally. There's been a lot of talk about so-called loopholes on the campaign trail but closing this one is something we can all get behind."

As The World Crumbles: The ECB Spins, FED Smirks, And US Banks Pillage

Often, when I troll around websites of entities like the ECB and IMF, I uncover little of startling note. They design it that way. Plus, the pace at which the global financial system can leverage bets, eviscerate capital, and cry for bank bailouts financed through austerity measures far exceeds the reporting timeliness of these bodies.

That's why, on the center of the ECB's homepage, there's a series of last week's rates - and this relic - an interactive Inflation Game (I kid you not)  where in 22 different languages you can play the game of what happens when inflation goes up and down. If you're feeling more adventurous, there's also a game called Economia, where you can make up unemployment rates, growth rates and interest rates and see what happens.

What you can't do is see what happens if you bet trillions of dollars against various countries to see how much you can break them, before the ECB, IMF, or Fed (yes, it'll happen) swoops in to provide "emergency" loans in return for cuts to pension funds, social programs, and national ownership of public assets. You also can't input real world scenarios, where monetary policy doesn't mean a thing in the face of  tidal waves of derivatives' flow. You can't gauge say, what happens if Goldman Sachs bets $20 billion in leveraged credit default swaps against Greece, and offsets them (partially) with JPM Chase which bets $20 billion, and offsets that with Bank of America, and then MF Global (oops) and then...you see where I'm going with this.

Some of you may be on the receiving end of anonymous spam emails from a yokel billing himself as “Idiot Muth” (appropriately hosted at “yahoo”).  Two quick points:

1.) I have no respect for someone who attacks someone else anonymously like this. When I go after someone politically, I stab ‘em in the heart, not the back.  I’m not afraid to put my name on my attacks or my opinions.

2.) Just so you know, the pea-brained coward propagating the “Idiot Muth” emails is Nevada Assemblyman Mark Sherwood (R-Uranus). 

Would Sherwood really be so stupid as to send out such juvenile emails and not think people would find out he was the one sending them?  Sure would.

Book Recommendation: Carnage and Culture by Victor Davis Hanson

Having long been a fan of Hanson’s clear, focused political columns, often linked in this blog, I was delighted to stumble across one of his history books. In Carnage and Culture, Hanson considers European and American battles against non-western forces from Salamis to Tet. He links western military success to our institutions and culture, including the rights afforded citizens no where but the west, and the ability of free markets to create, innovate and build weapon systems. Some of his quotes alone are worth the price of the book. Referring to the flyers at Midway, many of whom sacrificed their lives in that great victory, Hanson writes, “One wonders if an America of suburban, video-playing Nicoles, Ashleys, and Jasons shall ever see their like again.” He also reports that, “In the first two years after the fall of Saigon (1975-77) there were almost twice as many total civilian fatalities in Southeast Asia … as all those incurred during the ten years of American involvement.” That and his comparison of the rules of engagement in Vietnam to WWII will especially resonate with Vietnam Vets. He also writes that (Capitalism) is a peculiar Western practice that acknowledges the self-interest of man and channels that greed to the production of vast amounts of goods and services through free markets and institutionalized guarantees of personal profit, free exchange, deposited capital, and private property.” The economically-ignorant OWS crowd might well wonder what they would do without credit cards, laptops, smart phones, not to mention food and clothing, if they destroy the system that has created a surplus of goods and freedom from want. I highly recommend this book.
