This summer, the U.S. government imposed a travel ban on Israel simply to pressure Prime Minister Netanyahu into accepting a ceasefire agreement. But we can’t put a travel restriction on countries where a contagious disease is raging.;

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

The "law of unintended consequences" is an idiomatic admonition regarding the manipulation of complex systems. The notion of unintentional consequence has its origin with 18th-century political economist Adam Smith and the Scottish Enlightenment.
In the present, it is used more in rebuttal to the hubristic notion that humans are so brilliant and possess sufficient discernment about complex systems that we can predict outcomes with great accuracy. It is similar to Murphy's Law -- "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong" -- except it is not asserting the absolute.

Some NewsBrifers ago, I asked if Liam Neeson was his birth name since backwards it is “No seen Mail”.

Well, I did a quick search and one person said his birth name was William John Neeson. Well, Liam could be shorted from Wil liam. It is a possibility, making my first observation one heck of a coincidence. We enjoy his movies.

Found it interesting...and a truly greaaat story...that his mother was a cook and father a school caretaker.

Someone had asked if he (born in Ireland) was Christian to which someone said he is Catholic, which wouldn’t surprise me (though not required) since at least one of his sons reportedly goes to the same high school I attended....hope he plays sports there.

Even in Houston, Texas, You Will Be Made to Care

Houston, TX is not thought of as a bastion of liberalism, but it has gone quite rapidly off the deep end.

Earlier this year, Houston’s City Council voted on non-discrimination legislation that provides equal protection to the entire swath of the BLTGCZQDLMAO alphabet silliness. In short, if a guy decides he’s a girl and wants to go hang out in the girl’s bathroom, it is a-okay in Houston, or it would be except the law will not be enforced pending a court challenge.

And that gets us to the craziness. The Mayor of Houston and her legal eagles have decided to subpoena pastors and other religious leaders who have spoken out against the insanity. The subpoenas demand the pastors turn over “”all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to [the legislation, the Petition [to repeal it], Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession.”
