Nothing, and I mean nothing, grinds the nerves of those who wish to grow and expand government more than a principled politician who takes tax hikes off the table and leaves them there.  Which is why the Left is so fanatically obsessed with the 25-year-old Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform. 

Not only does the Left belittle, demean, ridicule and browbeat candidates and elected officials who sign the Pledge promising the voters of their districts to oppose and vote against any and all efforts to raise taxes; after a candidate makes such a no-new-taxes commitment, many liberals develop an Ahab-like obsession with finding even the smallest of violations, hoping a tiny crack will result in capitulation on bigger hikes.

As I wrote below, there are 129 and other in the works – some of these
began several years ago – initially using abandoned silver mines since there
were tracks and tunnels already carved out.  In some cases, old unused
missile silos were the initial starting point.  As noted in the video, at
least one location is an underground tunnel with access from the sea, allowing
small Naval ships to enter via water into the initial stage of the
bunkers.

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) is asking President Obama to immediately suspend the U.S. Peace Corps program in China, where American volunteers are restricted to teaching English in Chinese universities.

Coffman said he was "shocked" to learn on a recent trip to China that millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars are being used to defray China's higher-education costs, at a time when the U.S. government is short of money to fund its own higher education system.
