“wonder drugs” that we have been using since the middle of the last
century are rapidly losing their effectiveness, and medical authorities
are warning that the emergence of very powerful antibiotic-resistant superbugs represents “one of the gravest threats in the history of medicine“.
Of course the “wonder drugs” that I am talking about are known today
as antibiotics. These drugs attack bacteria, and when they first began
to be developed back in the 1950s and 1960s they were hailed as
“miracles” that would save countless numbers of lives. Well, it turns
out that nature is having the last laugh.

I love our veterans Last week we celebrated Veteran’s
Day. I am a proud supporter of our veterans, and I will do anything I can
for them. Just a few weeks ago I was able to be part of the fall Honor
Flight and greet our World War II veterans when they returned from their

1963, on an 8-1 vote, establishing Secularism as the official religion
of America. Lone dissenting Justice Potter Stewart prophesied,"It
[the decision to remove the Bible and prayer from public schools] led
not to true neutrality with respect to religion, but to the
establishment of a religion of secularism." What's
dreadful is that the Supreme Court -- "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion. . . ." -- goes and establishes a
religion in America. What does the false religion of
Secularism look like? It affirms that -- with the present state of
scientific knowledge -- dogmatic belief in an absolutist moral/ethical
system (i.e., Christianity) is odd or abnormal.
George Holyoake (D.1906) -- who invented the term 'secularism', an agnostic himself -- argued,
"Secularism is not an argument against Christianity, it is one
independent of it. It does not question the pretensions of Christianity;
it advances others. Secularism does not say there is no light or
guidance elsewhere, but maintains that there is light and guidance in
secular truth, whose conditions and sanctions exist independently, and
act forever."

Hickey Invokes Reagan, Completely Missing
the Point
The
Washoe County Republican Party held its annual fundraising dinner last night,
which was blown off by the party’s supposed titular head, Gov. Brian “BS” Sandoval (R&R-Partners) because
the Guv’s campaign had intentionally or amateurishly double-booked him for an
event in Las Vegas on the same evening.
In
his absence, Assembly Minority Leader Pat
Hickey took to the podium and proceeded to talk out of both sides of his
mouth, as usual.
According
to a report by Ray Hagar of the Reno
Gazette-Journal, Hickey complained about the GOP becoming a “small tent party.”
Of
course, he left out the part where a few weeks ago he went on a Reno radio
program and cheered the fact that fewer minorities and young people would be
turning out for next year’s election, maintaining that was great news for
Republicans. Go figure.
Anyway,
Hickey went on to complain about what he calls “pup tent party politics” in which
conservatives are “trying to take out ‘our own’ in primaries against Republican
incumbents because they are not ideologically pure enough.”

about all the ways surveillance is conducted -- by government, military, and
the private sector. Just the names and acronyms alone would fills a couple
pages. Amongst these is the following.
Intel's CPUs now contain a second, internal stealth CPU
