Where has
education gone?
This
question is asked as everything we hear is, “students in the 7th
grade cannot read. Civics, American History, Cursive Writing are no longer
taught in Public Schools.” There are more subjects not being taught than ever
before that are vital to the continued success of this great country.
When we read
of, “homosexuality must be taught to children as young as 6 years of age,
acceptance of other’s religious beliefs must be tolerated,” or other
non-academic teachings, the concern of our children’s education, or lack
thereof. must become of the utmost importance.
Additionally,
we are told that rather than surrender a pay raise our teachers would rather
see a reduction in staff. We are never advised of the dollars and cents figures
paid to our teachers and therefore cannot make an intelligent decision
respecting this topic whatever.
Class sizes
are discussed, but nary a word about the teachers who complain after voting for
raises in lieu of sufficient staff levels.
It appears
as if our children are exposed to non-teaching of vital subjects just as we,
the taxpayers, are being intentionally uninformed of the facts to determine a
true position in this education process.
While Unions
may restrict teachers from revealing their salary/benefits, when did our news
media become bound by those same restrictions?
To set forth
a question respecting our children’s curriculum, ‘Who determines what subjects
are to be taught and what subjects are no longer of value?’
I can make a
decision based on facts if those facts are known, but if hidden, due to an
unknown agenda, can only guess at a solution.
I am firmly
convinced that the major newspapers in the cities throughout America have the
resources to discover the answers to the questions posed. Factually I am
convinced those answers are known, just not reported!
The bottom
line, and I speak from being able to clearly discern right from wrong, I fear
Union control has taken control of common –sense.
