The Secret Sandy Hook Secrecy Bill
From the Hartford Courant, “Bill Drafted In Secret Would Block Release Of Some Newtown Massacre Records”:
Moms Against Hunger meeting unmet needs in Moore, OK With the initial shock from Monday’s colossal tornado wearing off and with all of the clean-up going on, people are hungry and in need of three solid meals. The good news is: this need is being answered! Since Tuesday, more groups have been arriving on the scene to prepare and provide food for the hungry. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all being provided by different groups serving with compassion. While we celebrate that stomachs are being filled, many areas where relief is desperately needed are still left unaddressed. Read More |
Federalism (“States’ Rights”) Get Short Shrift in Colorado Judicial Exhibit I recently visited the new Ralph Carr Colorado Judicial Center—the huge and incredibly expensive building complex that now houses the Colorado Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Obama's War on Transparency Endorsed by Court
The Obama administration has perfected the art of "selective transparency." It releases documents when it serves them and keeps them secret when it does not. We've seen this happen time and time again. When the Obamaadministration wanted to undermine enhanced interrogation techniques,it selectively released certain top-secret Department of Defense memosthat supported the administration's agenda, while conveniently leavingout those documents supporting the effectiveness of the techniques. (JWwas ultimately able to force the release of theserecords.) |

Please allow me to update you on some of this week's happenings in Washington, DC.
Response to President Obama's Drone Speech
Following President Obama's speech on drone policy Thursday, I still have concerns over this Administration's definition of due process.
While I'm glad the President finally acknowledged that American citizens deserve some form of due process, I am still concerned over whether flash cards and PowerPoint presentations represent due process; my preference would be to try accused U.S. citizens for treason in a court of law.

Sen. Paul Defends Apple Against Senate Subcommittee
On Tuesday, I attended a Homeland Security and Government Affairs subcommittee hearing that called for executives of Apple to testify on the company's tax practices. In the hearing, I defended the job-creating efforts Apple has made and lambasted my fellow Members for perpetuating a U.S. tax code that hinders corporate growth and productivity.
Following my opening statement, which can be found HERE, I had the opportunity to question witness J. Richard Harvey, a tax attorney and professor.

Behind the IRS Scandal and the attacks on Obama In what must totally confuse the public, the left leaning, liberal media is now daily hawking a news story that the IRS has been purposely targeting applications for conservative charities and educational non profits. 7 Things About The Mainstream Media That They Do Not Want You To Know Have you ever wondered who controls the mainstream media? In America today, we are more “connected” than ever. The average American watches 153 hours of television a month, and we also spend countless hours watching movies, playing video games, listening to music, reading books and surfing the Internet. If someone could control the production of all of that media, that would make them immensely powerful. They would literally be in a position to tell people what to think. Read More... |
