The Australian government may intervene to save a baby who is getting
international media attention because a couple who paid a surrogate to
carry their twin babies to term wanted him to be aborted after they
found out he had Down Syndrome.

Last
week, the House passed a bill to deal with the border crisis. While it
didn't come out exactly the way we wanted it, our phone calls made the
difference in getting substantial changes added to the bill that calls
for tighter enforcement.
The
Senate has gone home for August recess and very likely won't even bring
the bill to a vote when they return in September. The White House has
been toying with issuing executive orders to essentially grant amnesty
for millions of people who are here illegally.

Last week Congress engaged in a burst of activity to address the border surge, before it took its August recess. Finally, the House passed a couple of tough immigration bills—after the Senate had already left town.
President Obama had asked for $3.7 billion in supplemental funds to spend on the border crisis and its unaccompanied alien minors. A Senate bill to provide $2.7 billion fell 10 votes short of the 60 needed to advance.

Rep Amash is one of the core conservatives in Washington DC. When we heard that Freedom Works for America was supporting Congressman Justin Amash in his primary, we felt it our duty to help him in any way we could. On Saturday, a group of Northwest Ohio Conservatives lent a hand to Justin Amash by working in his district, talking to people and putting up 500 yard signs to prepare for the August 5th primary.
I meet and talked to Rep. Amash almost two years ago now, back when House Speaker John Boehner removed several Conservative Congressman from their committees in "The Boehner Purge." There were several Ohio Conservative leaders at FreedomWorks doing a post mortem on the November 2012 election when someone came in the room and said; "All the conservatives have just been fired from their committees". Pots, Kettles, and the Corrupting Nature of Washington
Hypocrisy is defined as “the behavior of people who do things that they tell other people not to do.” And Steve LaTourette’s article in Politico Magazine was full of it.
In 2003, multiple newspapers reported that Steve LaTourette had left his wife for his then-chief of staff, Jennifer Laptook. Jennifer proceeded to leave Congress and register to lobby, where she, according to Salon, “acquired some major Cleveland-area clients for her lobbying business almost the instant she left the representative’s staff” and touted her relationship to Congressman LaTourette on her lobbying firm’s website.
After leaving congress bemoaning the lack of Congress’s ability to govern, Congressman LaTourette and his now wife, Jennifer LaTourette, started, from scratch, the lobbying practice at the McDonald’s Hopkins law firm. In 2013, the firm pulled in $1.1 million (I’m in the wrong business) in lobbying fees. This, despite the fact that Congressman LaTourette was banned from lobbying Congress for most of 2013.
