IRS: Bad to the Bonus
Whoever said "cheaters never prosper" obviously didn't work at the IRS! There, it seems employees do a great job of collecting everyone's taxes but their own. As if Americans needed another reason to seethe over the agency, government officials are pulling the curtain back on even more corruption.The latest bombshell comes courtesy of the Department's Inspector General, who is exposing the IRS for doling out almost $3 million in bonuses to employees with "disciplinary issues" that span everything from fraud and abusing agency credit cards to owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes. (Apparently, the agency was too busy targeting conservatives to trouble with their own tax returns.) "Employees' tax problems," the Inspector General writes, "included 'willful understatement of tax liabilities over multiple tax years, late payment of tax liabilities, and underreporting of income."
But, as Americans have come to understand, wrongdoing isn't just condoned in this administration -- it's rewarded! Despite their transgressions, more than 1,140 of these negligent workers split $1 million in cash awards and another 10,582 hours of paid leave. Sixty-nine of them even "earned" permanent raises! Meanwhile, under the crushing economic policies of the Obama administration, most law-abiding Americans would be happy just to have jobs, let alone bonuses.

Mississippi
Gov. Phil Bryant has signed a bill that would ban abortions after 20
weeks of pregnancy and protect unborn babies who feel tremendous pain
during an abortion procedure.
The measure is similar to legislation pending in Congress and in other states that points to the pain babies feel in abortions as a reason to ban them. In order to firm up one of his most dependable "grievance" voter constituencies, Barack Obama is baiting ballot hooks with what Demo strategists insist is an irresistible lure for getting out the female vote: "equal pay for equal work."
That enticement is a variation on the Democrat Party's tried and true politics of disparity -- "war on women" propaganda "income inequality" rhetoric. This includes rolling out two more executive orders, the latest concerning wage disparity, even though equal pay for equal work is already the law.
Recall, if you will, that to foment class warfare sentiments among the proletariat, Obama declared that the "defining challenge of our time" is income inequality, and he promised to make that the focus "for the rest of my presidency."

The Internal Revenue Service has revoked the tax-exempt status of a conservative-aligned charity for engaging in political activity as far back as the 2004 presidential election — including statements opposing Hillary Clinton for president.
The Patrick Henry Center for Individual Liberty, based in Manassas, Va., “has shown a pattern of deliberate and consistent intervention in political campaigns” and made “repeated statements supporting or opposing various candidates by expressing its opinion of the respective candidate’s character and qualifications,” according to a written determination released by the IRS Friday.

What the West Needs to Do Now to Contain
Russia
Relative to Russia the West finds
itself in a position of weakness with no good alternatives. In the case
of the Crimea, Russia demonstrated how quickly a dictatorship can act when it
takes matters into its own hands. In the space of about three weeks
Russia took over almost all the Ukrainian military bases in the Crimea,
sponsored a (bogus) referendum on independence, and passed legislation in the
Russian parliament annexing the Crimea to the Russian Federation.
Although Russia long maintained that this action was in response to a
spontaneous uprising of disadvantaged Russian-speaking Ukrainians, President
Putin recently admitted that units of the Russian army were present in the
Crimea during the uprising.
Now the West finds itself staring at
30,000 or 40,000 Russian troops in a high state of readiness concentrated
along the Russian border with the Ukraine. Although Putin promised
German Chancellor Merkel to withdraw some of these troops as a sign of
de-escalation, none of these troops has been withdrawn.
