House Votes to Approve Keystone Pipeline, Create Tens of Thousands of Jobs & Increase Energy Security

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today applauded House passage of theNorthern Route Approval Act (H.R. 3), legislation introduced by Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) that approves the Keystone pipeline and eliminates legal and regulatory barriers to its construction and the tens of thousands of jobs it will create: “When American families hit the road this Memorial Day weekend, they’ll once again be paying the price for the Obama administration’s failed energy policy.  Gas prices have nearly doubled on the president’s watch, draining family budgets and making it harder for small businesses to hire.  The Northern Route Approval Act, part of Republicans’ plan for economic growth and jobs, will help families and small businesses by approving the Keystone pipeline and removing barriers that could keep it tied up in legal limbo for years.

The 1998 QE2 asteroid has the physical mass to potentially deliver life on Earth a knockout punch, being 2.7km in length. It is to buzz our planet on May 31, aweing the stargazing community.

Officially known as Asteroid 1998 QE2, the ‘minor planet’, as astronomers refer to these space objects, is about nine times the length of its name-sharing ocean liner, Queen Elizabeth 2.

How ought Republicans to respond to the growing list of indefensible abuses of power by Barack Obama? Consider what he has done. Obama has created the virtual equivalent of an "enemies list" and used the federal government to persecute these opponents of his plans. Obama has repeatedly and transparently lied to the American people about the misdeeds of his lackeys and his knowledge of those misdeeds. Obama has hidden behind a gaggle of subordinates whose responses to questions sound like the "...to the best of my knowledge at this point in time..." mantra which Richard Nixon's lieutenants recited when called before the House Judiciary Committee in 1974.

Barack Obama committed precisely the sort of "high crimes and misdemeanors" which the Founding Fathers intended to be cause for impeachment. Republicans, who control the House of Representatives, should begin the process of investigating whether Obama should be impeached.

Some conservatives will wince at this approach. They will recall the craven Senate Republicans who effectively acquitted Bill Clinton even before his Senate trial began. The 1998 midterm election, which provided modest gains to Democrats, has been taken as proof that Americans did not want Clinton impeached.

No - the EPA expanded their role.

The EPA is now using these same scientists to make the case for the EPA's attempt to preemptively kill the Pebble project, which could be the largest mining project in U.S. history.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Far-reaching legislation that grants a chance at citizenship to millions of immigrants living illegally in the United States cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee on a solid bipartisan vote Tuesday night after supporters somberly sidestepped a controversy over the rights of gay spouses.

The 13-5 vote cleared the way for an epic showdown on the Senate floor on legislation that is one of President Barack Obama's top domestic priorities — yet also gives the Republican Party a chance to recast itself as more appealing to minorities.

The action sparked rejoicing from immigration activists who crowded into a Senate committee room to witness the proceedings. "Yes, we can! Si, se puede" they shouted, reprising the campaign cry from Obama's first run for the White House in 2008.

In addition to creating a pathway to citizenship for 11.5 million immigrants, the legislation creates a new program for low-skilled foreign labor and would permit highly skilled workers into the country at far higher levels than is currently the case.

At the same time, it requires the government to take costly new steps to guard against future illegal immigration.
