SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE IN TROUBLE

The PROLEMS ARE WORSE THAN OBAMA WANTS YOU TO KNOW

Social Security and Medicare Trustees Friday issued their annual report on the financial future of the two entitlement programs. The prognosis isn't good, and, in fact, is even worse than was reported just one year ago.

According to the report, Social Security is now permanently cash negative and can no longer be funded solely from the payroll tax. It is projected to exhaust funds in 2036 — one year earlier than the report predicted last year.

White House bans cameras at daily news briefing

What is going on at the White House? First, Obama announces that he will no longer provide 'staged' news photos for reporters. Then, today it was announced that the White House will 'go dark,' that is, the press today was barred from live-casting the daily news briefings provided by Press Secretary Jay Carney.
Increasingly the White House is distancing itself from news reporters, withholding vital information from the press and the public, and essentially dictating to the media when and where they are allowed to video or take pictures of the President.

Constructive and civil debate — like the one Obama initiated just four weeks ago on deficit reduction? The speech in which he accused the Republicans of abandoning families of autistic and Down syndrome kids? The debate in which Obama’s secretary of health and human services said that the Republican Medicare plan would make old folks “die sooner”?
In this same spirit of comity and mutual respect, Obama’s most recent invitation to civil discourse — on immigration — came just 11 minutes after he accused opponents of moving the goal posts on border enforcement. “Maybe they’ll need a moat,” he said sarcastically. “Maybe they want alligators in the moat.”
Nice touch. Looks like the Tucson truce — no demonization, no cross-hairs metaphors — is officially over. After all, the Republicans want to kill off the elderly, throw the disabled in the snow and watch alligators lunch on illegal immigrants.

THE “TAX MY HAIRCUT” BILL

Dan Burdish of Citizen Outreach took a quick look at AB 569 - the Democrats’ last-minute surprise (not really) proposal to tax services as part of their $1.2 billion Mother of All Tax Hikes.  If approved, the new tax would add a new 1% (for now) tax to a boatload of services except:

1.  Any services that this State is prohibited from taxing under the Constitution or laws of the United States or the Constitution of the State of Nevada.

2.  Any services provided by or to a governmental entity.

3.  Any services provided by or to a nonprofit organization that is recognized as exempt from taxation pursuant to the provisions of 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3).

4.  Any day care services provided to an infant or child away from the home of the infant or child.

5.  Any health care services.

OBAMA FILED SUIT AGAINST ARIZONA FOR ENACTING LAWS THAT WORK! WHAT IS HIS MOTIVE?

AZ's SB 1070 Reduced Immigration-Related Crimes

SB 1070 has officially been in effect for one year, and the parts of the law that have been in effect for the past year, are working. The Department of Public Safety says it has made a difference in the border battle, even in its stripped down version. There are fewer violent crimes and it has helped DPS’ immigration task force do their jobs better.

From January to March last year, the task force busted 12 drop houses - this year during the same months, only three.  Likewise, last year agents arrested 33 smugglers, and this year it is down to 12. Officials credit the portions of the bill that allow for more serious charges against traffickers for the success and for ending the “revolving door” policy which allowed illegal immigrants to be deported without charges or penalties to re-enter the country and continue committing crimes.

DPS Capt. Fred Zumbo says immigration violence is moving on to other states and their office now receives the most calls from Houston, Denver, and Las Vegas asking for help in how to deal with the bloodshed.
