GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT Dear friend, It’s the Friday before Halloween! I hope that you and your family have made plans to have fun and stay safe this weekend. Before partaking in this weekend’s festivities, be sure to set your plans to vote! This is the last weekend to do so. As always, here are a few good news stories from this past week. Suwannee County Fire Rescue received $750,000 to build a new fire station. This new fire station will better equip these essential first responders in their efforts to protect the community. You can read the full article here. Help from a friend can make any tough situation better. In this case, help from man’s best friend rings even more true. Dakota, an 8-year-old golden retriever, has played an essential role in making life easier for patients of a local hospice care facility in Ocala. According to the patients, Dakota has kept them mentally and emotionally secure during difficult times. Many thanks to the volunteers and to Hospice of Marion County for going the extra mile in care. You can read the full story here. This week, the Panama City Beach Police Department received $90,000 in grant funding. This money will fund upgraded vehicles and overtime pay for those that serve and protect our local community. Not only am I grateful for the funding our law enforcement has received, but I am also grateful  for and stand with all of our men and women who wear the uniform. You can read the full article here.
