House GOP overwhelmingly supports Liz Cheney 

Headline: House Republicans Vote To Keep Liz Cheney In Leadership: Reports​

What's Up: The vote wasn't even close. According to sources privy to the secret ballots counted last night, Liz Cheney was affirmed 145-61 and will remain as the #3 member of the Republican in the House, despite attempts to Donald Trump to get her ousted.

The First take: Liz Cheney was one of ten Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump last month and that vote ignited a small fire within the House GOP. As Democrats have attempted to use this argument to try and divide the opposition party, we believe last night's vote, as well as actions involving controversial member Marjorie Taylor Greene, will ultimately unify and strengthen the Republican caucus.

Rand Paul takes Education Secretary nominee to school on trans athletes

Headline: WATCH: Rand Paul Destroys Biden Nominee Over Boys Competing in Girls' Sports

What's Up: Miguel Cardona, Joe Biden's nominee to be the Secretary of Education, was schooled by Senator Rand Paul in one of the more animated exchanges of all Biden's cabinet nominee hearings to date. The biggest issue for Senator Paul (also a medical doctor)? The science and logic relain to transgender athletes competing in school sports.  

Quote: "Paul then explained that 'a lot of us' think that it’s 'bizarre' and 'not very fair' and told how there are a lot of girls in his family who have competed in college athletics and that the idea of 6′-2″ boy competing against his 5′-4″ niece doesn’t sound very fair. The First take:  Dr. Paul's education of the nominee to be Education Secretary was one of the more entertaining and enlightening moments on Wednesday. We believe the reliance on facts and science should always trump feelings. Of course, we realize this concept is foreign to many on the left side of the political spectrum. But, we're happy to see it still exists in the GOP.

Unity? Senate dems push massive bill ahead without any GOP votes

Headline: Democrat-led Senate approves budget process for passage of $1.9T COVID-19 stimulus without GOP votes

What's Up: With both the House and Senate under the control of Democrats, there is little the Republicans can do if Pelosi and Schumer want to drive their agenda forward. This week is a prime example. The massive $1.9 trillion dollar COVID-19 relief bill is moving ahead thanks to the Democrats' use of a budget resolution tool which allows them to cut out the GOP.

The First take: We told you so. Despite all of the claims of wanting unity and bipartisanship in government, Democrats ignored the Republican suggestions and are moving ahead without any input from across the aisle.

House colleague says AOC lied about her Jan 6 Capitol riot experience

Headline: One of AOC's Colleagues Says She Lied About Her 'Near Death' Experience

What's Up: Monday's emotional video from AOC explaining her "terrifying" experience during the Capitol riot is coming under scrutiny by many in the media and some of her Republican colleagues in the House. Congresswoman Nancy Mace's story contradicts AOC's version of events.

The First take: We encourage you to pay attention to how AOC will push back against anyone who contradicts her story. The second-term Democrat congresswoman has already issued a press release calling on her supporters to report anyone questioning her truth on social media. Of course, she's also using this to fund raise for the 2022 election.
