WASHINGTON, DC – At a press briefing with Republican
leaders today, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) highlighted this
week’s House action to help hardworking families by addressing home
energy costs, and providing all Americans the same break from the
president’s health care law that the administration has granted big
businesses. Following are Boehner’s remarks:
“House Republicans this week will continue to act to help middle
class families and small businesses. As Lynn pointed out, the tax on
the individual mandate – either buy health insurance or you pay the tax
– frankly it’s not fair. And the president’s outlined and protected
big businesses from problems with ObamaCare and mandates in ObamaCare.
It’s time to provide the same kind of relief for American families.
“You know, as the ‘polar vortex’ continues to grip our country,
Congress has its responsibility. And yesterday we passed a bill
dealing with the propane issue in the country. We also need to
continue to look at expanding American energy. Expanding American
energy production means lower home heating costs, and it means more
American jobs. It is a win-win and I would urge Democrats this week to
support us as we bring bills that would expand energy production in
our country.” |
