Dear Conservatives,
First, there was a years-long, multi-million-dollar "Card Check" campaign by aggressive United Auto Workers (UAW) organizers at Volkswagen's plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Then, even after the UAW hierarchy, Volkswagen and the Obama Labor Board conspired to rig the election in the union's favor, independent-minded workers still voted "no."
Unfortunately, under the current National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), winning the election is just the beginning of the process for opponents of forced unionism.
The UAW wants the NLRB to throw out the election results, and there have been no signs that Volkswagen is going to fight for the rights of its employees.
Fortunately, the Atlanta Regional Director of the NLRB has agreed to let independent-minded Volkswagen workers, with free legal aid from National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys, defend the results of the recent secret ballot election.
The bad news is, UAW union bosses have appealed that decision to the full NLRB -- their latest attempt to silence workers who dare to oppose them.
The Obama NLRB has become infamous for refusing to give independent-minded workers a fair hearing and looking the other way at union-boss malfeasance.
Now Foundation staff attorneys are taking the fight to federal court.
I discuss the new lawsuit in our latest video update.
The lawsuit builds upon a prior Foundation-won precedent that breathed new life into a long-neglected section of the Labor Management Relations Act, outlawing bribery and collusion between company and union officials.
Late last year, the United States Supreme Court preserved that precedent when it took the unusual step of dismissing an appeal brought by UNITE HERE Local 355 union bosses after hearing oral arguments in the case.
The recent unionization election at Volkswagen has caught national media attention, and your Foundation is in the thick of it.
I'm afraid the UAW hierarchy won't relent until they can impose their will on workers who want nothing to do with them.
Thank you for enabling us to stand up for these workers' freedom.
Sincerely,
Mark Mix
