URGENT: DEBT CEILING VOTE JUST DAYS AWAY
After emerging from a series of back room meetings, Speaker John Boehner has announced that he and Barack Obama agree – the debt ceiling must be raised. His deputy, House Majority Eric Cantor has stated that tax negotiations with the Democrats "are on the table."
Constitutional Conservatives within Congress, though reeling with dismay at the "leadership" betrayal, are digging in for the fight of the century – with their own party. True Conservatives have been holding the line against an increase with various spending slash scenarios, including a "cut, cap and balance" proposal that has gained many pledges by Congressional Members. Now, as never before we must stand with the true Conservatives, especially the Constitutionalist freshmen who entered Washington willing to take on the cozy DC Establishment combine – regardless of party – who are demanding fiscal austerity. The debt ceiling must NOT be raised; spending must be slashed!
If we lose this battle, our children and grandchildren will never be released from the on-going cycle of economic slavery Washington seems determined to permanently impose upon us as subjects, not free and sovereign citizens.

OUR FAXES MUST ALSO FLOOD HOME DISTRICT OFFICES! Here is a little known secret – faxes to home offices carry more weight with elected officials. Why? Because unlike Washington based political hacks and party operatives posing as staffers but operating as ambitious and unscrupulous careerists, the home offices are more often operated by your neighbors – people who live in the district and have to look YOU in the eye when the Congressman sells out principle and betrays his constituency. Believe me when I tell you, there is nothing to scare a politician into compliance to the Will of the People like confrontation with thousands of informed, oppositional and angry Constituents and his own local staffers who have been hearing from them!
As of today,every American man, woman and child is burdened with $46,000 of debt – debt created by feckless politicians and the parasitical political class, vastly expanded by Obama and his socialist faction, all authorized by Congress – and forced upon us against our will.
And in just a few days Congress will decide whether to increase that burden.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told left-leaning Politico online magazine he is totally confident that the debt ceiling will be raised. The GOP opposition, he said, is just "political theater"! And John Boehner seems to be playing along.
Geithner has called the pending House vote and grassroots pressure not to raise the $14.29 trillion debt limit "a political stunt," claiming that behind-the-scenes talks were progressing toward a deal that would cut "spending" (proposed Obama budget expansion) by anywhere from $1 trillion to $4 trillion in exchange for an increase in the borrowing limit "to prevent a default by the U.S. government."
The push is on with the political establishments of both parties to convince American voters that the federal debt ceiling MUST be raised. They falsely claim that to fail to do so would mean the United States defaulting on its debt obligations. But that simply isn't true! This frightening but bogus campaign is being promoted by politicians, Republicans and Democrats alike, drunk with the power of spending your money and loathe to sober up. Even crazier and completely un-Constitutionally, the Obama claque is now absurdly and fantastically claiming 14th Amendment authority for the President to violate Congress' sole power to pass laws, incur debt and extend credit on behalf of the federal government – in a grossly illegal and partisan scenario which, if followed by Obama would constitute a slam-dunk impeachable offense.
But all these actions would prove malicious and harmful to our republic's well being, must be resisted. The conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC) of Congress is trying to hold the debt ceiling down and force massive spending cut concessions from both Obama and the party Establishments รข€“ but to succeed, the RSC needs YOUR support!
The Debt Ceiling Vote led by Boehner and Cantor that previously occurred in the House was political theater that gave more Democrats cover on the issue than exposed big spenders! The GOP Establishment may think we are fooled by their shenanigans, but we know better. This fight is far from over!
Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Cantor and House Republican "leaders" are "negotiating" with – SURRENDERING TO – Obama and the Democrats' demands that would RAISE THE DEBT CEILING in exchange for bogus cuts on projected spending, designed to continue the Washington charade that everything is fine if only we raise taxes, indulge a little class warfare, and trim and reorganize government business a bit. They seek to create the illusion that the GOP is actually doing something to save the country while maintaining the status quo. But the fact is that Republicans and Democrats alike are totally unwilling to act as statesmen, take a path of fiscal austerity, and make the severe and significant cuts necessary to chart a course that will prevent our impending national economic disaster. Appeasing the "looters" of our society in exchange for the votes necessary to protect these politicians' power and personal pocketbooks has become more important than actually saving the country from what now can be clearly seen as economic and institutional collapse.
The Federal government now borrows $0.40 of every dollar spent. Boehner and the GOP continue to insist they want significant cuts in exchange for raising the debt ceiling. There is no net gain on retiring debt or reducing deficits in such a "deal." This makes no sense! No one can fix their finances or dig their way out of debt by borrowing more and continuing to spend too much. The debt ceiling has been raised SIX TIMES since 2008, and every time, regardless of the "cuts" made, the Congress and administration keep massively overspending, and the Feds have come back asking for more money. We cannot allow this to continue.

Democrats and the Republican Establishment BETRAY and IMPERIL America with their relentless campaign to irresponsibly raise the national debt ceiling! They rejected the Conservative Congress' promised $100 billion spending cuts, including the $61 billion in budget reductions passed by the House. Passing instead the Socialism-compliant and absurdly bloated counteroffer of the faux 2011 Budget "Deal" designed to fool the voters by preventing the scary sham Federal government shutdown was a BETRAYAL of America in crisis. The $105.5 billion in ObamaCare start-up funds STILL continue flowing as our nation faces Constitutional disarray and bankruptcy! I say, SUPPORT and STRENGTHEN the Representatives Gohmert, Bachmann and King, and shout "NO DEAL" – NO DEBT CEILING RAISE; JUST CUT THE SPENDING!
House Speaker John Boehner should be holding the debt ceiling down, but has shown in the on-going budget bill votes that he is NOT committed to fiscal responsibility and the austerity cuts necessary to save the nation from economic disaster. Boehner is an unreliable and inadequate "leader" for the crisis we face, and should be receiving Votes of No Confidence from the House Majority. Boehner recently was quoted saying, "Congress MUST approve taking on more debt, which currently is growing by more than $4 billion per day. If it doesn't approve raising the ceiling, then the U.S. will default on its loans and lose its standing as the globe's most reliable bet."
This is a LIE. The truth is that the United States DOES NOT lack the funds to pay its current debt obligations. We DO lack the funds to pay our current debt obligations AND squander billions and trillions more on the needless spending follies of feckless politicians and out-of-control government!
The RSC wants this year's $1.4 trillion estimated deficit to be cut in half next year. The Congressional Budget Office projects that higher revenue will bring down the deficit to $1.08 trillion – to reach $700 billion will require a minimum of $381 billion in spending cuts.
The White House is seeking a $2 trillion increase in the nation's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling by Aug. 2.
An RSC letter sent to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leadership that has been circulated to the entire Republican conference spells out three demands for fiscal austerity and economic recovery measures by Congress:
- "discretionary and mandatory spending reductions that would cut the deficit in half next year."
- "statutory, enforceable total-spending caps to reduce federal spending to 18 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)."
- a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution with strong protections against federal tax increases, as well as "a Spending Limitation Amendment (SLA)."
This type of amendment would make the cap on spending as a portion of GDP a part of the Constitution and would require large hurdles to be met to increase taxes. Spending is now at a near-crisis level 24 percent of GDP. The White House favors a debt trigger that would force either tax increases or spending cuts if breached.
The RSC strategy is to push for the debt ceiling to be raised as little as possible so that the Obama administration will face more pressure to reduce the deficit.
According to Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) in the Wall Street Journal recently, "…if Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling, the federal government will still have far more than enough money to fully service our debt. Next year, for instance, about 6.5% of all projected federal government expenditures will go to interest on our debt… why would we ever default? To make absolutely sure, I intend to introduce legislation that would require the Treasury to make interest payments on our debt its first priority in the event that the debt ceiling is not raised."
So the TRUTH is, staying within the current debt ceiling would merely force Congress to do the difficult work which it has been entrusted by We the People to do — STOP the SPENDING, and get government out of the way and out of our business, to permit the restoration of our nation's financial health!
America is headed for an unprecedented economic crash, and amazingly, the Republican Establishment stilldoesn't understand the crisis which confronts the nation. While GOP "leaders" fuss and tinker around the margins, bolder souls in the Republican Study Committee (RSC) earlier this session unveiled their Spending Reduction Act proposing to reduce federal spending by $125 billion in FY 2011-2012, and cut $2.5 trillion over the next 10 years. They now have a plan for Boehner and Cantor that presents clear strategic guidance for negotiating with Obama, Harry Reid and Tim Geithner! WE NEED TO FIGHT TO HAVE THe RSC PLANS ON THE TABLE!
Included in the RSC's Spending Reduction Act's specific provisions are:
Overall spending CUT to 2008 levels, with discretionary spending CUT to 2006 levels.
Unspent "stimulus" money RETURNED.
Civilian government workforce CUT by 15%.
Government subsidies ELIMINATED to the Public Broadcasting System, the National Endowment for the Arts, Amtrak, the National Organic Certification Cost-Share Program, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, among other agencies and programs.
Funding for implementation of ObamaCare BLOCKED as well as taxpayer money RESTRICTED from use by government and public services lawyers to defend any ObamaCare provisions in court.
The Republican Study Committee has more than 170 members in the U.S. House and will have Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina as a co-sponsor of the Spending Reduction Act in the Senate.

This will happen, only with YOUR help! The tut-tuttery is already prevailing among some in the GOP "leadership" that the RSC cuts are "too severe" and not necessary if thenew, raised debt ceiling is sufficiently restricted. But here is what they aren't telling you…Saying you won't add more debt won't relieve the problem of the excessive weight that is already making the supports buckle on America's economic structures. THIS IS WHY STANDARD & POOR'S RECENT OUTLOOK REPORT JUST DOWNGRADED THE U.S. DEBT RATING FROM "STABLE" TO "NEGATIVE" – indicating that there is at least a one-in-three probability of America losing its AAA credit rating in the next two years!
The reality is, more posturing, band-aid fake votes and political theater is NOT what we need! We need AUSTERITY and RESPONSIBILITY from Congress! If we only cap the debt ceiling, without immediately cutting MASSIVE amounts of spending, and severely cutting longer-term federal fiscal liability, then the spendthrift leftist politicians in office (REMEMBER, Obama and the Democrats have the White House and Senate at least until 2012) are perfectly capable of threatening to have the United States TO DEFAULT on its loan payments in order to make the Republican House majority back away from austerity measures. The "full faith and credit of the United States" will be completely meaningless, our currency will be worthless and our already strained economy will crash into historical Weimar Republic (or more recent Zimbabwe-level) standards – where three eggs recently cost 100 BILLION Zimbabwean dollars! BUT THIS COULD ONLY HAPPEN THROUGH OUR PASSIVELY PERMITTING THE CONGRESS TO TOTALLY MISMANAGE THE NATION'S BUSINESS and leave us UNPROTECTED FROM OBAMA AND GEITHNER! Republicans KNOW there is NO NEED or EXCUSE for DEFAULT if they do their duty!
SEVERAL bills are already in play that will prevent any possibility of Obama's Treasury from permitting default. Frankly, the debt ceiling is a comparativenon-issue if the Republicans simply do what we sent them to Washington to do — CUT SPENDING! Cut it not with a butter knife like the previously proposed paltry $1 billion cuts, (0.07% of our debt); but with chainsaws, axes, mowers and cleavers!The cold hard fact is 40 cents of every dollar the U.S. Government spends is BORROWED. That means the budget must be cut by at least 40%. There are some very easy and some very hard choices to make in the days ahead, but the men and women of the 112th Congress were sent to Washington on the promise they would make responsible decisions to keep America a constitutional republic, not a degraded and bankrupt socialist swamp. SO STARTING TODAY, WE HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!

If the 112th Congress simply cuts the budget, seriously and severely, economic collapse CAN be averted and there will be no need to raise the debt ceiling — in fact we could LOWER it, saving our children and grandchildren from economic slavery. There are countless wasteful, irresponsible, unconstitutional programs and expenditures thoroughly researched and documented and crying to be cut! There are many assets being held and even monopolized by the Federal government that should be in the private sector, and could be made available for purchased return to enterprising individuals or businesses among We the People. There is a bright future in store for America — we WILL remain the land of the free, the home of the brave, IF WE ACT. But if we intend to remain a beacon of hope to the world, we must return to the bootstrap ideals of capitalism, decent self-reliance and personal responsibility that made this country great. This is only possible if we get our financial house in order and cut the budget. THERE CAN BE NO COMPROMISE — THE FECKLESS, UNCONSTITUTIONAL, PROFLIGATE SPENDING MUST STOP NOW!I have argued for years that this problem is at root not a "money problem" but a moral and ethical problem which the American People, and the Representatives they entrust with governance of our great nation, MUST take in hand.
When your credit cards are maxed out and you can't make the payments, you cannot just go to the bank and demand a higher credit limit so you can keep living like a king beyond your means. And it is not enough to simply cut up the credit cards and not pay down what you owe — because the debt is still there, the principal plus interest is growing and the payments alone will soon exceed your earnings and your ability to even service the debt, much less pay it down and retire it. Expenses must be cut back until your budget is in balance with expenses, and the principal on the borrowed money can be repaid. This is how you and I operate in our own households, and this is how we must insist Washington operate as well.
