Trump Comments Regarding Threats to Supreme Court Have Implications for Upcoming Abortion Case

As spring nears, anticipation for the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center continues to grow. There is a lot at stake in this important case. While it centers on a challenge to a Mississippi state law that bans abortions after 15 weeks, Mississippi’s Solicitor General Scott G. Stewart has asked the Supreme Court to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which opened the floodgates on abortion in America. To listen to some pro-life leaders, the decision appears to be in done deal. They are behaving as if Roe has already been overturned. But not so fast. Senate Vote Blocks Consideration of Radical Abortion Expansion Bill Washington, D.C. -- In a big win for abortion opponents, the U.S. Senate voted last night to block the Democrat’s far-reaching abortion bill, H.R. 3755, which would have encoded Roe v. Wade and nullified nearly every pro-life law in the nation. The vote was 46 in favor and 48 opposed to considering the legislation – not even close to the sixty votes that were needed to move the bill on.
