| | Dear Friend, Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference. We’ve seen that in many instances throughout our district. Here are a few stories about generous constituents who are making a big difference in the lives of others around them -- | For more than two years, the Welborns’ contact with their adoptive son Beau in South Korea was only through photographs and phone calls, due in part to the pandemic. In September, their prayers were answered, but an unforeseen challenge caused them to miss their flight. The Delta Airlines team in Tallahassee worked to get them on a flight to South Korea and threw a special homecoming celebration for the family when they returned. Read more here. | D’Andre Jefferson and Thomas Williams, who are both 19-year-old Lake City residents, started their second annual clothing drive a few weeks ago and provided clothing to area residents last week at Annie Mattox Park. Jefferson said the concept behind the drive was inspired by a story from Williams who described dropping off some clothing to a friend and the recipient began sobbing when he gave her the clothes. You can read more about these young leaders here. | The Food is Free Project is a movement that has extended to more than 350 cities to encourage communities to share food. This project came to Bay County as Food is Free 850 in January, and the current food box can be found at 602 New York Ave. in Lynn Haven. Food is Free 850 operates year-round for anyone to take what they need and leave what they can. The group hopes to have more boxes spread throughout the city soon, along with a community garden to create that space for others.
