This is the kind of story that should make national headlines.
But you and I know it won’t.
Right now, the Biden Administration is attempting to force the Green New Deal into effect through complicated legal maneuvering, completely bypassing Congress.
The Biden team knows the American people don’t want the Green New Deal. They know it won’t pass the House and Senate. But they’ll do anything to get their way to make the rest of us live by “green” ideology.
Here’s what the White House and the green left are doing in the shadows:
> Rather than introduce a bill, they’ll use the EPA to create a new federal standard: a secondary National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). This gives the green left a framework for economy-wide decarbonization, and as you can likely guess, it’s never been authorized by Congress or survived court oversight.
> Rather than pass legislation, they’ll use the new standard to enforce the worst parts of the Green New Deal. It’s nothing more than an ideological effort to fundamentally transform laws into political tools used to destroy America’s energy boom. Even President Obama’s first EPA Administrator rejected this type of scheme as not “advisable.”
> Rather than debate their policies, they’ll take states that don’t go along to court. For two years, state attorneys general and President Biden’s now-acting head of EPA’s Air & Radiation Office — which would oversee these federal rules — plotted to sue and litigate this agenda into place.
This Green New Deal scheme depends on the worst tactics of the D.C. “swamp,” and the American people deserve better.
