Conservatives, Neera Tanden is not the only radical nominee Joe Biden is trying to sneak past you! Xavier Becerra is Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and he is a radical Marxist. Becerra supports socialist single-payer health care and if he is confirmed he will help Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez eliminate your private health insurance. And if that’s not bad enough, as the Attorney General of California he helped enforce Governor Gavin Newsom’s devastating lockdown orders. Make no mistake about it, Xavier Becerra is NOT a doctor or a medical professional or qualified to lead the HHS. He is a socialist sellout who will happily help the radical Left destroy our health care system. That’s why we’re asking you to call 202-953-5687 and tell your senators to block Becerra’s nomination NOW! And after you’ve called them, please sign your Block Becerra Petition right away. After you've taken action, please check out some of the stories we’ve been tracking this week. For Freedom, Noah Wall and Parissa Sedghi Fornwalt FreedomWorks
| | | Democrats' For The People Act Not For The People At All | | | By FreedomWorks Executive Vice President Parissa Sedghi Fornwalt via The Patriot Post With Biden in office and Democrats controlling both chambers of Congress, they are feeling empowered to pass signature legislation. One of their biggest priorities, HR 1, or the so-called For the People Act, was reintroduced on the House floor in early January and received a vote late Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, one of their biggest priorities is also one of their worst ideas yet. According to its text, the For the People Act aims to “expand Americans’ access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, strengthen ethics rules for public servants, and implement other anti-corruption measures for the purpose of fortifying our democracy, and for other purposes.” READ MORE HERE | | | Cancellation Chaos, Cuomo's Controversies, & Texas Reopens | Pardon The Disruption | | | The gang talks about Gov. Ted Cruz’s vacation, (Mr.) Potato Head and the debate over the COVID-19 relief package proposed by President Joe Biden, Democrats in Congress are attempting to pass an unprecedented, radical piece of legislation which would reshape American election law, destroy privacy protections and undermine election integrity. Unfortunately, this bill, H.R. 1, just passed the House of Representatives last night, and only a single Democrat had the courage to vote against it. H.R. 1, referred to by its sponsors as the “For the People Act,” has received little media attention since it was introduced Jan. 4. This isn’t because Democrats and their media allies are not supportive of the bill — quite the contrary — it’s that the far left is scared of Americans finding out what the legislation contains. In the infamous words of Nancy Pelosi during the Affordable Care Act debate, Democrats are trying to pass this bill before Americans see what’s in it. READ MORE HERE | | | H.R. 1: The So-Called "For The People Act" | Inside The Story | | | House Democrats passed a sweeping federal overhaul of elections that takes power from the states, funds incumbents’ campaigns with tax dollars, and makes public the charity donations of private citizens. This is all included in HR 1, the so-called “for the people act,” which even the ACLU opposed back when it was first introduced in 2019. With us here to discuss the bill this time around is the Washington Times’ Dave Boyer. WATCH THE FULL EPISODE HERE! | | | New Progressive Policies, Same Old Tax Tricks From 'Do Something' Congress | | | By FreedomWorks Director of Policy Sarah Anderson via RealClearMarkets In the name of “doing something,” politicians once again seek to abuse the tax code to achieve radical policy agenda items. Last week, it was Sens. Sanders and Wyden seeking a backdoor minimum wage hike when the Senate parliamentarian didn’t give them their way on a $15 federal minimum wage. This go ‘round, progressives are looking to a blanket “financial transaction tax” to supposedly “rein in” Wall Street hedge funds, at the expense of ordinary Americans’ savings and investment. However, another week in Washington means another week that politicians on both sides of the aisle misunderstand markets, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and we find them using the hot-button issue of the day to push their agenda. This is an agenda that, across the board, grows the size and scope of government at the expense of the people. Slapping on a new tax to engineer individual actors’ behavior — businesses, individuals, or other entities alike — is one of many frequently turned to tactics. The previous sentence, while a bit of a cliche, speaks to the truth that what is a cliché is pregnant with a lot of truth. Money is fast. Some call it hot. Arguably longtime Citibank CEO Walter Wriston explained money much better. He observed decades ago that “Capital goes where it’s welcome and stays where it is well treated.” Money flows represent the flows of market goods, services and human capital, and all three go to where they’ll be utilized best. Global warming is already here, we are told. However, it didn't feel like it if you lived in Bismarck, North Dakota, where temperatures fell to decades-low numbers, or in Chicago, Oklahoma City, Dallas or Houston. San Antonio had snow for the first time in recent memory. READ MORE HERE | | | REGULATION ALERT | Tell DC To Power Tomorrow By Embracing Nuclear Energy Today! | | | Nuclear energy is one of the greenest energy sources available to America. And yet, the radical Left never mentions it when they talk about climate change. They'd rather keep pushing their socialist agenda that keeps us dependent on foreign countries, instead of following the science and embracing nuclear energy. Thankfully, we have the chance to pressure the Department of Energy to allow the states to produce their own nuclear energy. That's why FreedomWorks Foundation is asking you to submit a formal comment, urging the Energy Department to power tomorrow by embracing nuclear energy today!! | | | Federal Court Allows California To Proceed With Net Neutrality | | | By FreedomWorks Policy Analyst Luke Hogg This court decision on California’s net neutrality law is simply the latest round in a partisan bout that has been swirling for nearly a decade. In allowing SB 822 to take effect, the courts have effectively signaled to other states that the federal judiciary will not get in the way of state legislative efforts on net neutrality. This paves the way for other states to impose their own burdensome rules on ISP’s while the FCC prepares to restore the Open Internet Order. Perhaps more significantly, California’s economic position has led many to worry that SB 822 will, effectively, become national policy. As we have seen in other areas like automobile emissions, due to the size of California’s economy, the standards they set tend to become national standards due simply to the cost of compliance. As Professor Frederick Boehmke of the University of Iowa told the BBC, California is “pretty clearly the overall leader...shaping the national agenda.” READ MORE HERE | | FreedomWorks In Action | | | | | | | | |
