Luke believed in the importance of YAF’s conservative teaching and wanted all Harrison students to be able to learn about limited government and traditional values. The school, however, banned Luke from creating his own YAF chapter, claiming the club would exclude some students. With the help of ADF, Luke was finally able to get the school to reverse its stance. While the school says that the original club request was modified to meet guidelines, Luke tells Fox News that the bottom line is that the school was violating his First Amendment rights by treating his conservative views as second-class.

So when the current Virginia government passed laws under the banner "Virginia Values Act," many citizens of the state were surprised to learn their deeply-held values were no longer welcome in the state. Photographer Bob Updegrove is one of them. Bob will work with all people, including LGBT Virginians, but he can't use his artistic talents to express certain messages. For this, he could face fines up to $100,000 for each time he declines to promote messages that violate his conscience. With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, Bob—and several other Virginians—are suing the government for trampling on their rights. ADF Senior Counsel Jon Scruggs reminds us that the great Virginians Thomas Jefferson and James Madison valued a pluralistic society, and the government should never abandon those foundational ideas.

ADF International Legal Officer Elizabeth Francis reports good news out of Essex University, which recently found 20 percent of married couples reported a strengthened relationship as opposed to 10 percent who said the pandemic has weakened their marriage. With this kind of stability, Francis argues that marriage is now needed more than ever, but UK government guidance is making it difficult to promote marriage. Francis says that, for the sake of society and the future, governments should value marriage with words and actions and prioritize family unification.

Wade decision legalized abortion in America, the March for Life will not be held in person. Citing the COVID-19 pandemic and unrest in our nation's capital, the March for Life Education and Defense Fund has announced the annual march will be held virtually, taking place on January 29. March for Life President Jeanne Mancini says a small number of pro-life leaders will represent the movement on the streets of D.C., carrying roses to take to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court to honor unborn lives lost as a result of Roe v. Wade.
