NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT Dear friend,
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) made an important announcement last week that may affect you. If this does not, please feel free to share this information with family or neighbors.
The USDA announced that the deadline to submit applications for the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program – Plus (WHIP+) for 2018 and 2019 losses is Friday, October 30th, 2020.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the program, WHIP+ compensates producers for losses due to hurricanes, floods, snowstorms, tornadoes, typhoons, volcanic activity, drought, excessive moisture, and wildfires occurring in calendar years 2018 and 2019 -- this includes Hurricane Michael. Drought and excessive moisture were added as eligible losses for the program in March 2020.
For more information about who is eligible for the program and whether you had possible losses in 2018 and 2019, please visit the farmers.gov WHIP+ webpage.
If you have issues with submitting your application, please feel free to call or email my office. We want to help you.
Sincerely,
Neal Dunn Member of Congress
