Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the announcement of President Trump’sexecutive order on healthcare price and quality transparency

Senator Rick Scott said, “Patients should know exactly what their medical procedures and prescription drugs cost before they ever get a bill. And just like in every other industry, American consumers should have the ability to shop around for the best deal. I applaud the President’s action to make information on out-of-pocket spending more readily available and to require hospitals to publicly disclose prices. I am fighting every day to give patients the information they need to make informed decisions for themselves and their families, and I support these efforts. Even in the hyper-partisan, dysfunctional world of Washington, D.C., creating more transparency in the healthcare system is something we must all support to help families across our nation.” Read more HERE.
Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Marco Rubio and bipartisan members of Florida’s Congressional delegation in a letter to the Assistant Secretary of the Army – Civil Works. In the letter, Senator Scott and his colleagues urged the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a study of Florida’s flood control infrastructure to make sure Florida communities are protected from flooding concerns for decades to come. During the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs hearing on theUnprecedented Migration at the U.S. Southern Border, Senator Rick Scott spoke on Congress’ unacceptable inaction to address the crisis at the border.
During the hearing, Senator Rick Scott, addressing officials from Customs & Border Protection, said,“I’m disgusted by the way Congress has handled all this. You couldn’t make this up. We don’t want to secure our border, then people want to complain that you’re not doing your job.… I’ve been here six months. I’m disgusted that we sit here and you watch on the news where people are trying to do their job get attacked while Congress sits here and doesn’t do their job. It’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen in my entire career, my business career - you wouldn’t do this in your business career.” See more HERE or in the video below.

Senator Rick Scott released the following statement after the Senate’s passage of the fiscal year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA includes:
  • Senator Scott’s amendment to cut off funds to the Maduro regime;
  • Senator Scott’s amendment to hold China accountable;
  •  More than $1.2 billion to rebuild Tyndall Air Force Base;
  • $750 billion in defense spending; and
  • A 3.1% pay raise for military members
Senator Rick Scott said, “This bill is a great win for our military and our country. Our military not only provides for our safety and security, but also leads in supporting our allies and protecting freedom across the globe. We must do everything we can to provide our men and women in uniform with the resources they need. I fought for $750 billion to fund our military this year, including funding to rebuild Tyndall Air Force Base and a pay raise for military members, in my Fighting for Florida budget agenda. I’m glad to see all three included in this year’s NDAA.

“The United States must stand up to oppressive regimes throughout the globe, including in Venezuela and China. I’m proud my colleagues supported my important amendments to prohibit the DOD from doing business with anyone that supports the oppressive Maduro regime and to require DOD to provide information on every contract between the Department and businesses controlled by the Chinese government.”  Read more HERE.
Senator Rick Scott released the following statement after the House passed the Senate’s $4.6 billion bipartisan border aid bill.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I’m glad the Democrats finally acknowledged the crisis on our border is real and agreed to provide $4.6 billion in humanitarian aid to help our border agents and take care of families. But we should have never had to do this. As long as Democrats continue to refuse to take action to address the cause of the crisis, this will only get worse. We have to take permanent action to secure the border – not just temporary fixes, and it’s frustrating that this bill included no funding for border security. The safety of our nation depends on Congress, and I refuse to give up the fight.” Read more HERE.
Senator Rick Scott urged Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to lead a delegation of EU nations to the Venezuelan border to see the humanitarian crisis firsthand. Senator Scott is calling on all EU countries to stand with the United States in the fight for freedom, and to impose significant sanctions on Venezuela and the Maduro Regime.
