Trump: 2,000-4,000 Troops Needed for Mexico Border Security
President Donald Trump said Thursday that he wants to send 2,000 and 4,000 National Guard members to the U.S.-Mexico border to help federal officials fight illegal immigration and drug trafficking, but it wasn't clear who would be called up or if they would even be allowed to carry guns. Trump's comments to reporters on Air Force One were his first estimate on guard levels he believes are needed for border protection. It would be a lower number of troops than the 6,400 National Guard members that former President George Bush sent to the border between 2006 and 2008. "In light of China's unfair retaliation, I have instructed the USTR to consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate under section 301," Trump said in a statement issued by the White House. Furthermore, the U.S. has shuttered the Russian consulate in Seattle. ... Read More

A group of current and former officials in President Donald Trump’s administration could be the sources of leaks regarding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt, news reports suggest. Pruitt came under fire, more recently, for stories leaked to reporters about the administrator renting a room from a D.C. lobbyist’s wife, circumventing the White House to get close aides pay raises and, most recently, sidelining staffers who challenged him on running the agency. Multiple media reports suggest the leaks are coming from current and former Trump administration officials. Former White House official Rob Porter is reportedly one of the leakers, sources told ... Recent headlines scream tech’s invasion of medical sector: “Alphabet’s bets on health tech are paying off as portfolio companies go public” (CNBC), “Can Amazon do to healthcare what it did to books?” (CNN), “Apple, in sign of healthcare ambitions, adds medical records feature for iPhone” (New York Times). Reading the fine print in the smaller font tells why tech figures to triumph. A new article in the Harvard Business Review explores how virtual health can save patients money and doctors time. “Virtual health refers to the use of enabling technology — such as video, mobile apps, text-based messaging, sensors, and social platforms — to ...
