Today is April Fool’s Day, so I thought it might be interesting to review how the Bible defines a fool.
Being a fool is a question of identity; it begins with what a person thinks in his heart.
Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Psalm 14:1 gives us a glimpse into a fool’s heart:
“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.”
Because a fool tells himself that there is no God, then the fool believes he only has himself to rely upon. But human beings by our very nature are limited in our knowledge and experience of life; none of us knows everything and it is foolish to think otherwise! Some of the smartest people in the world in man’s eyes are counted as fools in God’s eyes. If you are a Believer in God through Jesus Christ, then you are nobody’s fool! Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” When you believe there is a God and you reverence, honor and respect Him, then you are counted among the wise. A reading from Luke:
Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto
the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Luke 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
Luke 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luke 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
Luke 24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Luke 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Here you have it! Herein is the basis of the Christian faith clearly stated’ The women were seeking our Lord in order to embalm Him in ways of their time. He had been crucified and entombed after His death on the cross. Our Lord had lived, walked amongst men, had performed miracles. Was betrayed, suffered a horrible death, but now had risen! Our Heavenly Father had sent His Son to us, as had been prophesied many times in the Old Testament, had seen to it that Jesus Christ had arisen from the dead !
Brothers and sister there has yet to see a religion based on such a miraculous act as this!
Looking into the premises of Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Confucianism, Islam, B’hai, or any man made ‘religion, none have had any hint of God living among man, suffering death and being resurrected. While Jesus was of Jewish origin even Judaism does not recognize His resurrection after crucifixion. It is only WE, true Christian believers, that truly believe Jesus Christ is a Person of God. Only WE accept His lessons of love, compassion, and truth as the basis of our core beliefs. WE accept His death as a sacrifice for the sins of man and are willing to testify of our belief. We have the duty, imposed by Jesus Christ, to bring others to share in the joy of belief in Him.
We, AS Christians, hear arguments that seek to disparage our faith. Sadly, non-believers try to deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
Matthew 28:12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
Matthew 28:13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
Matthew 28:14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
Matthew 28:15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
We hear complete denials based on nothing more than a lack of belief are utter hardheadedness. Regardless of the statement of others we know the truth. We know that God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to make sacrifice for our sinfulness. For this WE celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Why, others may ask? Our answer is, with a joy filled voice, “because it is by the Blood of Jesus Christ that WE are saved!
Now, just for your understanding, I ask that you read Luke 24:1-7 again. (beginning of the sermon)
After reading Luke I ask that you sit back, close your eyes and try to imagine what it had to feel like to go to a tomb and be told the person you came to embalm had risen from the dead and was alive again! Imagine the feelings of confusion, almost disbelief, and emotional feelings of that morning. Then imagine the utter JOY as those women realized that EVERYTHING Jesus had told them really happened!
The feelings of joy experienced that day, by both the women and by the apostles is the exact joyous feelings every Christian is entitled to experience every day, and for the rest of your life!
From this day forward if anyone asks you why you are happy being Christian simply tell them what Jesus told His believers after His resurrection: Jesus said: “There is forgiveness of sins for all who turn to me. Repentance is to turn from something to something else. Turn from sin as you turn to Jesus Christ!

Resurrection Sunday!
On Resurrection Sunday we reach the culmination of Holy Week. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event, the crux, you might say, of the Christian faith. The very foundation of all Christian doctrine hinges on the truth of this account.
Early Sunday morning several women (Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Joanna, and Salome) went to the tomb and discovered that the large stone covering the tomb's entrance had been rolled away. An angel announced, "Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen." (Matthew 28:5-6, NLT)
On the day of his resurrection, Jesus Christ made at least five appearances. Mark's Gospel says the first person to see him was Mary Magdalene. Jesus also appeared to Peter, to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and later that day to all of the disciples except Thomas, while they were gathered in a house for prayer. The eyewitness accounts in the Gospels provide undeniable evidence that the resurrection of Jesus Christ happened. 2,000 years after his death, followers of Christ still flock to see the empty tomb, one of the strongest proofs that Jesus Christ actually did rise from the dead.
Sunday's events are recorded in Matthew 28:1-13, Mark 16:1-14, Luke 24:1-49, and John 20:1-23.

“Government officials in St. Paul, Minnesota, took the precaution of removing an Easter Bunny display inside the lobby of city hall, saying it isn't the city's place to promote religion.”
The above news story illustrates just how far our society has degenerated. First off... it is ridiculous for government officials to think they need to protect us from religious displays. Secondly... it is even more ridiculous for anyone to consider a bunny display as a religious display. Unfortunately, many of today’s so-called Christians actually do consider the Easter Bunny to be a part of their Christian religion. The same is true of Santa Claus. Folks, this goes beyond ridiculous – to appalling.
Jesus and the Easter Bunny –
If the average youngster was asked what Easter is all about, he or she would probably respond with comments about the Easter Bunny, or about Easter eggs, or about jelly beans and other candy. To this, the average adult would say, "Oh, how cute." How sad! Most children don't know beans about what Easter is about. Most parents don't take time to tell their children what Easter is all about. Many parents don't know any more about what Easter is about than their children. They may equate it with a special church service, but that is as far as it goes. I'm not much for religious holidays like Christmas and Easter because they are man-made holidays. They did NOT originate with God, or with Jesus, or with the apostles, or with the first-century church. They originated with man and they involve many pagan traditions that have absolutely nothing to do with God, or with Jesus, or with Christianity. [...]

If you want to be a true disciple of Christ Jesus, you need to carefully examine whether your beliefs agree with the Bible. It is not acceptable to God to merely assume that He approves of or accepts non-biblical celebrations, regardless of whether they are done for proper motives. The fact is that God says, “Learn not the way of the heathen”—those who don’t know God’s truth (Jeremiah 10:2, King James Version). His Word gives us explicit instructions regarding worshipping Him with practices adopted from pagan idolatry: “Do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods . . . Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it” (Deuteronomy 12:30-32). Jesus Christ now commands everyone to repent of following all man-made religious traditions: “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30; compare Matthew 15:3).

I first learned the phrase He is Risen in an Eastern Orthodox church and it now seems like the most appropriate thing for Christians to say to each other on Easter morning ... At any rate, there is no reason why Western Christians should be listening to the Washington elites who are obviously desperate to destroy Christianity in the Middle East and elsewhere. Just say no to Western media in God's name. And just say yes to the One who said: ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. And if you are a Western Christian, just say, with your Eastern brethren, He is risen.

Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus on this date in 2018 based on a complex formula. Basically, that means Christians think of today as the day Jesus was crucified in 33 AD by a religious-ethnic group who induced the world’s most powerful empire to do its dirty work. I am always moved to compassion on Good Friday, when a just man who spoke truth to power was murdered just for being what he was and speaking the truth as He understood it, defying the hypocrites of His day who claimed to be the keepers of God's law but only traded in religion for their own personal gain. It is a day when I don’t have much to say and, quite honestly, prefer to be alone. Because what happened that day was unspeakable. Words fail me. Particularly since nothing has changed since then.
