Russia and China are outpacing the United States in the development of super-fast hypersonic missile technology, Pentagon officials and key lawmakers are warning…..
It is true that the US has the world's biggest cache of nuclear weapons, but that is not a defence for stopping incoming hypersonic missiles fromRussia or China.
Nukes are a response to an attack but do nothing to defend against it hitting targets on American soil.
As we get closer to May 2018, it seems that, from a biblical perspective, all the ingredients for an end times conflict in multiple regions are settling into place.
Why is America so far behind Russia and China in hypersonic technology?
Because for 8 years Barack Obama stripped the military of dozens of generals and admirals and stopped the development of much-needed technology.
Russia says it successfully tested a so-called hypersonic missile this month, while China tested a similar system last year expected to enter service soon.
“Right now, we’re helpless,” Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in advocating for more investment in hypersonics, along with missile defence.
Hypersonics are generally defined as missiles that can fly more than five times the speed of sound.
General John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, last week described a hypersonic as a missile that starts out;
“like a ballistic missile, but then it depresses the trajectory and then flies more like a cruise missile or an airplane. So it goes up into the low reaches of space, and then turns immediately back down and then levels out and flies at a very high level of speed.”
In November, China reportedly conducted two tests of a ballistic missile with a hypersonic glide vehicle that U.S. assessments expect to reach initial operating capability around 2020.
The country had already conducted at least seven tests of experimental systems from 2014 to 2016.
But in congressional testimony last week, Hyten conceded U.S. missile defence cannot stop hypersonics.
He said that the U.S. is instead relying on nuclear deterrence, or the threat of a retaliatory U.S. strike, as its defence against such missiles.
“We don't have any defence that could deny the employment of such a weapon against us, so our response would be our deterrent force, which would be the triad and the nuclear capabilities that we have to respond to such a threat,” Hyten [pictured above] told the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Asked if the U.S. is really falling behind Russia and China on hypersonics, Thomas Karako, director of the Missile Defence Project at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, said flatly: “Yes.”

DOZENS of Chinese ships are exercising this week with an aircraft carrier in a show of force off Hainan Island in the South China Sea.
Pictures, provided by Planet Labs Inc, show a Chinese carrier group has entered the trade route as part of combat drills.
The Chinese navy claims the movements are part of routine annual exercises, according to Reuters.
The Liaoning carrier group last week traversed the Taiwan Strait, according to the Taiwanese defence ministry.
The photos, taken yesterday, show what appear to be at least 40 ships and submarines flanking the carrier Liaoning in what some analysts described as an unusually large display of the China’s expanding fleet.

They have emerged less than a week after Chinese President [for life] Xi Jinping said his country is prepared to fight bloody battles to retain its right as a superpower.
Sailing in a line formation more suited to visual propaganda than military manoeuvres, the flotilla was headed by what appeared to be submarines, with aircraft soaring overhead.
It is unclear where the flotilla was headed, or how long operations will last.
Chinese naval and coast guard forces have expanded rapidly in recent years and now patrol the vast swathes of the South China Sea, but little is known about their combat readiness and co-ordination.
As well as the destroyers, frigates and submarines that would ordinarily support a carrier, the flotilla appeared to include a large oiler for re-supply as well as smaller corvettes and possibly fast attack catamarans.

Religious Jewish factions say they are moving ever closer to the realisation of the Third Temple in Jerusalem.
The latest evidence of this is police authorisation, granted on Sunday, for a Passover sacrificial ceremony to be held just tens of metres from where the Second Temple once stood.
Religious groups have been holding public Passover sacrifices, in accordance with the biblical outline, for years.
But never before have they been permitted to conduct the ceremony so close to the Temple Mount, which the Muslims claim as their own, even as they deny the holy site holds any religious or historical significance for the Jewish people.
The seventh annual re-enactment of the Pesach (Passover) sacrifice took place on Monday, bringing the nation of Israel ever closer to the Third Temple than before.
“We can see the Third Temple rising on the horizon,” Shimshon Elboim, one of the organisers of the event said.
“It used to be just a small group of activists who showed up, but this year, the Passover sacrifice re-enactment went mainstream.”
Approximately 1,500 people, the largest crowd ever, gathered to watch some 20 Kohanim (Jewish men descending from Aaron the Priest) dressed in authentic priestly garments performing the full Passover ceremony as it was in Temple times.
The ceremony was accompanied by blasts from silver horns and other musical accompaniment.
Two goats were slaughtered and their blood was collected in silver vessels to be spilled out on a model of the altar.
The goats were roasted whole in the manner described in the Torah and served to the Jews gathered to witness the re-enactment.
Last year, the Passover sacrifice was conducted in the courtyard of the nearby Hurva Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City, some 450 yards from the Temple Mount.
This year it took take place at the Davidson Centre, [pictured above] an archaeological park situated at the southern foot of the sacred plateau, andjust below the Al Aqsa Mosque.
The park stands at the foot of the stairs where individuals walked up to bring their sacrifices to the Temple.

‘Freedom Coins’ from the revolt of 67-70 AD
Bronze coins, the last remnants of a four-year Jewish revolt against the Roman Empire, were just found near the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
They were now discovered by Hebrew University archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar during renewed excavations at the Ophel, located below the Temple Mount’s southern wall.
These 1.5cm bronze coins were left behind by Jewish residents who hid in a large cave (21×42 ft.) for four years (66-70 C.E.) during the Roman siege of Jerusalem, up until the destruction of the Second Temple and the city of Jerusalem.
While several of the coins date to the early years of the revolt, the great majority are from its final year, otherwise known as “Year Four” (69-70 AD).
Significantly, during that final year, the Hebrew inscription on the coins was changed from “For the Freedom of Zion” to “For the Redemption of Zion,” a shift that reflects the changing mood of the rebels during this period of horror and famine.
“A discovery like this—ancient coins bearing the words ‘Freedom’ and ‘Redemption’—found right before the Jewish Festival of Freedom, Passover, begins, is incredibly moving,” Dr. Mazar noted.

He was admitted Tuesday night with a high fever from a throat infection., and a persistent cough.

Further details of his trip, including how long Kim would stay and who he would meet, were not immediately available. The people asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the information.
The unannounced visit is the latest in series of diplomatic power plays in Asia as U.S. President Donald Trump’s battle to lower the U.S. trade deficit becomes entangled with his effort to get Kim to give up his nuclear weapons.
The U.S. appears to have had no advance knowledge of Kim’s visit.
