President Donald Trump's appointment of his budget director as interim director of a consumer financial protection agency championed by Democrats was challenged in a lawsuit filed in federal court Sundaynight. Leandra English, the federal official elevated to the position of interim director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by its outgoing director, filed the suit against Trump and his choice, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney. GOP Senators Could Alter Tax Bill to Earn Support of Holdouts
The Senate GOP tax plan could get late changes to win over holdouts, according to four people who spoke with The Washington Post. Senate Republicans are discussing several changes to the legislation, and are most focused on concerns from Republican Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Steve Daines of Montana who say the bill favors corporations over other businesses. States Spurning Election Panel Show Irregularities in Voter Registration
Many of the states refusing to cooperate with President Donald Trump's election commission aren't in compliance with federal law on maintaining voter registration lists, according to government watchdog groups. So far, 18 states and the District of Columbia have declined or are still considering whether to provide election data to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, established in May to examine and prevent voter fraud, among other concerns.
