The 6 p.m. ET debate roster includes Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, former HP (HPQ) CEO Carly Fiorina, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee; and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum. Anchor/Managing Editor of Business News, Neil Cavuto and Anchor/Global Markets Editor, Maria Bartiromo will reprise their roles as moderators for the primetime debate, while the earlier debate will again be moderated by anchors Trish Regan and Sandra Smith. The FOX Business Network (FBN) will once again live stream its Republican presidential primary debates on Thursday, January 14th, for free without authentication. President Obama will have a much unwanted attendee tonight at his State of the Union address: Kentucky clerk Kim Davis. Invited as guests to Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, Kim Davis and her attorney Matthew Staver will be in the crowd during Obama's speech Tuesday evening, which they believe will be a visible reminder of the current battle for religious freedom. "Kim Davis and I will be attending the State of the Union as a visible reminder that the president's accomplishments that he is going to extol are not so good for all parties, because it has not been helpful to people of faith. Religious liberty has been trashed under his administration," Staver told Politico. In a statement to Politico, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan took credit for the invite, saying he gave it to Davis after being requested one by the Family Research Council.

My nomination would increase voter turnout

The last time the Republican Party had a crisis of identity was in 1980, when an upstart former actor named Ronald Reagan challenged the establishment with his run for the Republican nomination. Many in the news media and the GOP said he couldn’t win. Some thought his campaign was a joke. When he won the nomination, Democrats and many moderate Republicans gave him no chance against incumbent Democrat Jimmy Carter.
Reagan won the general election with one of the greatest landslides in presidential election history. He won re-election the same way. How in the world did that happen when he struggled to gain acceptance with the mainstream of the party? He did it through getting Democrats and independents to vote for him. Many of them felt abandoned by their parties, so they were willing to sit on the sidelines. Reagan gave them a reason to come out. Reagan, through his optimism and force of will, convinced Americans that our best days were ahead of us. Best yet, he made good on his word.
Today, Americans are looking for a leader who will give them a voice in their government and a sense of pride in their country. They are tired of being lied to, and they are tired of seeing their country diminished — not by outsiders and foreigners — but by their own political leaders. If the leadership of the country cannot take pride in the nation, how is it expected that others will recognize and embrace American exceptionalism? When Americans find someone who they think can deliver on his word, they are going to flock to him, regardless of their political alignment.
In a recent Fluent poll, I garnered the most voter participation of six GOP candidates tested. What is most significant is the higher percentages of Republicans (plus 4 points), Democrats (plus 3 points) and Independents (plus 6 points) who said they’d vote if I were on the general election ballot, as opposed to if my next closest competitor were the nominee. The difference in independent turnout is even greater — 10 to 12 points — when I’m compared with the other four candidates.
As my rallies continue to draw thousands and tens of thousands, so will my campaign attract millions more voters. Imagine if we are able to get just 2% more of the electorate to vote. That would mean about 5 million more votes cast. Additionally, the latest national poll results from Fox News show me beating Hillary Clinton by several points in a general election matchup.
Actual voting begins in just a few weeks, and we will see what it means to grow the electorate in a meaningful way rather than bashing opponents with TV ads to keep the vote down. As special interests continue to fund the super PACs, the special interest I represent is the American people. The establishment is threatened by a campaign that says what it means and means what it says. I will not let you down. Together, we will make America great again.

What Are Donald Trump's Connections to the Mafia ?

Donald Trump is the political name that seems to be on everyone's lips these days, seemingly gaining in popularity amongst the American public every week. Trump is well-known for his real estate successes, his casinos, his motivational speeches and his showy personality. He's been a fixture on the New York social scene since the 1970s. However, there are some things that Trump might not want most people to know about — namely, his dealings with the Mafia.
As any builder of major New York City property or casinos in New Jersey can tell you, there comes a time when, in the course of doing business, you will almost certainly have to interact with the people who comprise a murky share of the New York underworld: the Mob. While Trump himself may lay claim to a degree of squeaky-cleanliness that may or may not be questionable, his former and present associates are not as lucky.
Allegations that Trump did favors for the Mob or was a brazen real estate "front man" for backroom dealings have plagued the developer for decades. It doesn't help that Forbes magazine has perennially stated in its list of the 400 richest Americans that Trump has numerous business partners, who own an unknown share of his empire. In fact, Forbes at various points has stated that far from being a billionaire many times over, as he has stated, Trump's true wealth might be as little as $125 million or less.
If you take a look at Trump's dealings from the 1980s, there are some not-so-pleasant characters that turn up when you start turning over a few rocks. Let's start with Trump's lawyer from the glamorous days of Trump Tower and the go-go 1980s, when he was just beginning his reign over the "Bright Lights, Big City" Gotham of Ed Koch and David Dinkins. Trump's attorney was none other than Roy Cohn, a now infamous and disgraced charlatan who was disbarred two years prior to his death from AIDS, a condition resulting from a sordid past of dalliances with gay hustlers that went back decades, even prior to the time when he served as counsel for the equally vilified Senator Joseph McCarthy.
Cohn denied his flamboyant homosexuality and HIV status, even when it was common knowledge to insiders. He was widely regarded in New York social circles as the ultimate hypocrite, due to his vicious antigay and antisemitic political smears and prosecutions. Although Trump denies it, Wayne Barrett writes in his book, "Trump: the Deals and the Downfall," that Cohn arranged a face-to-face meeting between Trump and "Fat Tony" Salerno, head of the Genovese Mafia family, who he also represented, in Cohn's apartment when Trump was seeking to build Trump Tower.
For as striking a monument as Trump Tower was at the time, its structure was curiously expensive; rather than being built out of steel as most high-rises are, it was constructed using concrete, which coincidentally came from the S&A Concrete company, widely-known to be controlled by Salerno and the Genovese family.
When tearing down the former Bonwit Teller department store in midtown Manhattan to build Trump Tower, Trump used wildly underpaid and undocumented Polish scab workers to execute the demolition, something that could only have been tolerated by the Mob-controlled Local 95 wreckers' union by means of a backroom deal. And Trump Tower wasn't the only Trump structure known to have used concrete from the S&A company; the Trump Plaza Condos on Manhattan's Upper East Side was also constructed from the same material.
New York building cognoscenti will affirm that in erecting tall structures in New York City, it is nearly unavoidable to do business with the Mob because they control so many of the building trades in the city. But it appears that Trump not only knew who he was dealing with by sharing an attorney with them, but that he sought favors from their organizations, just as he sought favors from politicians such as Hillary Clinton and Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a charge to which he has widely admitted in speeches and in print.
Then, there is the matter of Atlantic City. In building his first casino in the notoriously Mob-connected city, Trump seems to have paid twice the market value to buy a bar that sat on the land where he was to build the Harrah's Casino, later Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino. The owner of the bar, Salvatore Testa, was a known Mafia man, the son of Phillip "Chicken Man" Testa, head of the Philadelphia Mafia. Once again, as in New York City, Trump used Mob-connected construction companies to build Harrah's.
The Mob also controlled the workers' union for the casino's employees. Trump also contributed to the campaign of corrupt Atlantic City mayor Michael Matthews, later indicted and convicted of extortion. There is much speculation, but anyone who has watched the movie "Casino" knows that Mob ties to gambling centers such as Las Vegas have been substantial, to put it lightly. The infiltration of Atlantic City casinos by the Mob is so legendary that director Martin Scorsese built the highly-regarded television franchise "Boardwalk Empire" around it, above and beyond its references and locations for the more popular HBO show "The Sopranos."
If the above was all there was to the stories, Trump might be able to claim all of these associations were tangential and in the past at best, and perhaps, he could debatably wash his hands of them. Unfortunately, the stories don't stop there. As recently as 2010, Trump listed a man named Felix Sater as his senior advisor and did collaborative deals with him through Sater's Bayrock Group, a company formerly headquartered at Trump Tower and alleged to be covertly owned and operated by the Mob.
During his time in Trump's organization, Sater's office was on the same floor as Trump's at Trump's downtown headquarters. Sater had a conviction for stabbing a man in the face with a margarita glass shard in 1993 as well as a racketeering conviction related to a Genovese mafia family-linked $40 million dollar stock fraud scheme in 1998. In 2007, an investor in one of Sater's projects claimed Sater threatened to amputate his legs and leave him in a car trunk. Trump now denies being able to recognize Sater, who has changed his last name to "Satter," despite being photographed alongside him at the opening of Trump Soho and at a Denver business conference.
While Trump loves to make speeches and talk about his "art of the deal," the foundations of his deals and those of the people whose buildings he sometimes gives his name to may not want nearly as much talk about them. As Trump becomes discussed more and more as the potential Republican presidential nominee, this subject is sure to be looked at with greater scrutiny.
