1. FreedomWorks Launches Initiative to Support House Freedom Caucus Members - by Iris Somberg
FreedomWorks today announced a new Freedom Caucus Initiative that will support and defend members of the House Freedom Caucus and like-minded Members of Congress dedicated to the advancement of conservative, pro-freedom policies.
“We’re excited to support and defend those brave individuals we have helped elect to Congress over the past few election cycles as they support and defend our principles and our Constitution,” said Adam Brandon, chief executive officer of FreedomWorks. “Our ability to aggressively and effectively engage in multi-platform campaigns on a large scale puts us in a unique position that we believe no one else can match.”
The House Freedom Caucus is comprised of Members of Congress who are actively championing the cause of personal and economic liberty, often against their own Republican leadership and the GOP conference. Their principled leadership often makes them a target not just for opponents in the other party, but also for establishment leaders seeking to protect the status quo. Read more here...

3. Juvenile justice reforms would save money and spare nonviolent youths By Jason Pye - via Rare
In the 2013 documentary Kids for Cash, director Robert May told the stories of several young offenders from Pennsylvania whose lives were up-ended by the dysfunctional juvenile-justice system.
Presented in the young offenders’ own words, their stories are compelling.
They will also make your blood boil.
Judges, seemingly without much thought of the lifelong consequences, unnecessarily exposed these children to the system as adolescents, putting them at risk of being trapped in an endless cycle of crime. Read more here...

4. Where Do Democrats Stand On Jusice Reform - by Remso Martinez
While Republicans have led the charge on bipartisan justice and judicial reform in the congress and on the campaign trail, the 2016 candidates for the Democratic Party's nomination have seemed to have been silent on the matter publicly. Here is a breakdown of the current Democrat candidates and their stance on justice reform, based off the FreedomWorks issue set, going into the upcoming DNC primary debates.
Hillary Clinton-former US Senator, Secretary of State, First Lady
Mandatory Minimum Sentencing: Clinton recently began to touch the topic of justice reform in the past several months. In a May speech to supporters, The New York Times stated Clinton gave "an impassioned plea to mend the nation's racial fissures and overhaul an 'out-of-balance' justice system." Pointing out the large percentage of the population currently in America's prison system, she referenced the large number of "low-level offenders" currently incarcerated. While many cheered Clinton's support for downsizing the large number of citizens currently behind bars, what has bothered some is the speech she gave when her husband was in office, which shows a contradictory view of this issue she held for several decades. 5. Court Strike Down the FDA's Speech Regulations - by Logan Albright
They say that knowledge is power, that knowing is half the battle; and the explosion of knowledge that has emerged in the information age has undoubtedly made the world and its citizens far, far richer. Knowledge saves lives and elevates people from rags to riches. You would think that government would then be interested in promoting the spread of knowledge to as many people as possible, to maximize well-being among its citizens. You would think wrong.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) exercises strict controls over what information drug companies are allowed to publicize, and in many cases, these limitations result in needless deaths. Read more here...
6. "Head Start" Initiative Crashes and Burns by Remso Martinez
“One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.” ~Milton Friedman
Clinging to the hope that a model for a universal preschool program could run effectively, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services created a project known as Head Start CARES in order to put this concept to the test. The purpose of this initiative was to put to the test three "evidence-based" ways of helping children in lower income communities develop a love of learning, which would eventually grow their academic prowess and help create a rise in the number of high school graduates in impoverished communities throughout the country. Sadly, Head Start has proved to be a failure to launch. According to Heritage Foundation research fellow David Muhlhausen, PH.D. "Experimental evaluations released in 2014 and 2015 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services found that enhanced Head Start CARES demonstration programs had little to no effect."
