SANDOVAL THROWS LAXALT UNDER THE BUS America’s worst Republican governor strikes again. So there’s this story going around that Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt owes his election last November to Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval.  Oh, puh-lease. If anything, Laxalt, like so many other Republicans, was the beneficiary of the Big Red Wave of 2014.  Sandoval had all but nothing to do with it.  In fact, the governor’s closest advisers actually tried to pressure Laxalt into not running because Sandoval and the Republican power elite were 100% behind Democrat candidate Ross Miller. And the phrase “it was the least I could do” was literally the operative phrase when it came to Sandoval’s support for Laxalt’s campaign.  He did, in fact, do the least he could do. The governor extended a photo op and a quote…and that was about it.  I can’t recall a single incident where the governor actively went out on the hustings and stumped for the CONSERVATIVE attorney general candidate. That’s right.  Laxalt is a conservative.  Which explains Sandoval’s lack of enthusiasm for his candidacy. Same as his lack of active support for conservative Secretary of State candidate Barbara Cegavske.  Or conservative Treasurer candidate Dan Schwartz.  Or conservative Controller candidate Ron Knecht. In any event, politically speaking, Laxalt owes Sandoval bupkis. OK, with that out of the way, the fact of the matter is this: Laxalt ran for and was elected to be Nevada’s attorney general; the state’s chief LAW ENFORCEMENT officer.  The operative word is “elected.”  Not “appointed” by the governor. And the attorney generals of 26 other states have filed a lawsuit challenging the legal authority of President Barack Obama to do an end-around on Congress and extend, by executive order, amnesty for some 235,000 illegal immigrants – meaning people who have immigrated into the United States illegally rather than legally. For the life of me, I can’t understand why the Left thinks calling people who have immigrated into this country illegally “illegal immigrants” is offensive, but whatever.  Some people just aren’t happy unless they’re kvetching about something. Anyway, the lawsuit really has nothing whatsoever to do with illegal immigration.  The issue is whether or not the President of the United States can bypass Congress and issue an executive order essentially granting amnesty to illegal immigrants just because he wasn’t happy with Congress’ refusal to do so. The lawsuit is about the rule of law.  It’s about the separation of powers.  And Obama’s abuse of it.  Not immigration. And one final note on this… Contrary to the media spin, Sandoval was NOT blindsided by the lawsuit.  Laxalt’s peeps in the AG’s office fully informed Sando’s peeps in the guv’s office.  If the governor had a problem with the lawsuit, he should have called Laxalt, or even walked down the hall to speak to him in person. He didn’t. And once the media and assorted race-hustling agitators started stirring up the proverbial hornet’s nest over the lawsuit, Sandoval SHOULD have come out and backed up the Attorney General. He didn’t. Instead, Sandoval threw Laxalt under the bus and to the wolves. Like he does with any conservative.  When does the palace revolt start?  I’ll bring the pitchforks if someone else can grab a few torches.
