Dear Conservatives,
America’s
air is getting cleaner. EPA data shows that air quality has
substantially improved since the 1970s and existing EPA regulations will
continue that trend. Why, then, is the EPA trying to heap even tighter
regulations onto the backs of working families and small businesses?
Ignoring
the fact that air quality continues to improve and that households and
industries have invested billions of dollars reducing emissions, the EPA
has announced it plans to impose upon the American people the most
burdensome ozone regulations in history. The economic results of their
out-of-touch move could be devastating—lost jobs, a shrunken U.S.
economy, and possibly even higher energy costs for consumers.
Steamrolling
ahead with this regulatory plan could be a grave and costly error. The
EPA knows full well that many parts of the country are still working to
meet existing ozone standards—the strictest previously set. They also
know that the new targets they’ve proposed are so tough that some
pristine parks and wildlife areas wouldn’t be able to pass. Moving the
regulatory goal posts now isn’t fair, and it sure seems out-of-touch.
Sincerely,
The Energy Nation Team
