Quite honestly, it looks like almost everyone is helping the Kurds
these days, with a few exceptions such as Japan, China and of course, Saudi
Arabia, the source of most of this trouble in the first place.
This
is good news because it signals a change in Western policy toward the Kurds. In
the past, the West had obsequiously followed the Saudi lead. The Sunni Saudis
had given the most generously to terror throughout the Middle East for decades,
initially via government channels but later via private donations. Either
way, people get just as dead. The major terror groups were mostly Sunni you see.
(This thing is not very hard to figure out if you know how to use Google).
It looks like the terror is just so naked and blatant that the Western oligarchs
have given up fighting public opinion and are reluctantly abandoning their
commitment to give Saudi Arabia their way and also seem to have told John McCain
to stop consorting with 'moderates,' all of whom happen to be Sunnis who sooner
or later abscond with our money and weapons and join El Qaeda or
ISIS.
This
is a small victory and we can all be glad of it.
In
addition, there are Europeans, incl mostly UK citizens, either in the Middle
East or headed there to fight ISIS. Cameron has conceded that this is not
necessarily unlawful but could well be. It all depends on what the media tell
the courageous leader.
Here
is a brief summary of who is helping and/or may help in the future. If I were an
ISIS member, I would have a white hanky and a long stick handy just in
case.
