RedState Briefing 10/09/2014

The Leaking Against Obama Picks Up Steam

Yesterday, I told you the Democrats needed to throw Barack Obama under the bus to help Hillary 2016. Later in the day came the counter-offensive from one of the Obama Administration Inspectors General. The IG released a report that Hillary Clinton badly mismanaged the State Department.

Remember, starting in 2009, the Obama Administration systematically began replacing indecent inspectors general with partisan appointees. It appears the administration is now using them.

But now a new shot is being fired toward the Administration. This time from the Secret Service. Maybe some disgruntled and recently dismissed person or persons is beginning to leak. In any event, turns out the South American prostitution scandal ran toward the Presidential advance team. There are accusations that a 25 year old member of the President’s advance team named Jonathan Dach may have spent the night with a prostitute. Dach is denying it, but the Washington Post is reporting a lot of details relating to the accusation and that staff members who raised questions were put on administrative leave. Oh, they also note Dach used his status as a Hilton Honors members to get a fee for overnight hookers waived by the hotel in Cartagena. I am not kidding.

Jimmy Carter’s Grandson Claims to be a “Fiscal Conservative”

Jimmy Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, wants to be Georgia’s next Governor. The other night in a gubernatorial debate, Carter declared himself a fiscal conservative. Just how conservative?

Carter wants to destroy Georgia’ budgetary reserves to fund an additional \$1 billion to the state’s education budget. He wants to spend a billion extra a year for five years. He also wants to increase funding for transportation by millions of dollars of year. He won’t say where he will get the extra money. Asked pointedly, all he would say is leadership.

The Soft Bigotry of Democrat Voting Pitches

Someone named Maria T. Cardona, a self-proclaimed “veteran Democrat political consultant,” has a piece at RCP today urging Latino voters to get out and vote this fall. Wait, that’s not exactly correct, she’s actually engaging in some blandly offensive assumptions and hoping to drum up more Democrat votes.

Her piece, which assumes that all Latino voters would prefer “comprehensive immigration reform,” offers two basic reaasons that Latinos should vote. The first is that doing so will make Republicans afraid to oppose comprehensive immigration reform. Although this proceeds from some questionable premises, if we accept those premises, the reasoning is sound. The second, bizarrely, is that if Latinos come out and vote en masse, it will prevent Obama from doing anything frustrating like delaying executive action on amnesty again.

Cosmopolitan Magazine makes sure Wendy Davis stays a one-issue candidate

Your first reaction may be to wonder “Who cares?” at the news that Cosmopolitan Magazine endorsed Wendy Davis for governor of Texas. However, it is absolutely hilarious that, despite Davis trying to not be a one-issue candidate, the higher-order thinking at Cosmo has effectively boxed her back into that issue which made Abortion Barbie famous/infamous

Planned Parenthood: riding on a smile and a shoeshine

Smarting from defeats in state legislatures across the nation and seeing the public support for infanticide slipping, Planned Parenthood has come up with a great idea. They will send door-to-door canvassers to convince people that abortion is a good thing. What makes this canvass different from any previous efforts is that the canvassers will be women who have had abortions.

Democrats’ E-mails Descend to Desperation and Farce

It’s always a good idea to keep track of what your opponents are saying. That’s part of RedState’s mission of “Fighting the Left and Cleaning Up the Right”, and it includes, yes, seeing what the Democrats are e-mailing their supporters. I haven’t subscribed to them, but a friend forwards me the ones sent out by the Democratic Party itself and the DSCC. I don’t know if there’s any better indication of just how bad things are for them this election cycle.

Leon Panetta: I told the White House Benghazi was a Terror Attack

Over the past few years, Leon Panetta has proven that he is at least capable of honesty and independent thought when compared to the rest of the administration he served. He is a Clinton man, though, so he might have an axe to grind. Regardless of his motivations, what he’s said is yet more confirmation of what we’ve understood from the start: the Benghazi attacks were more than mere spontaneous demonstrations. Benghazi was a deliberate attack by terrorists on our interests, facilities, and citizens in Libya. With the House Benghazi hearings going on right now, it’s as important as ever to keep the pressure on the Obama administration over this attack. I don’t know what Panetta thinks of the House committee, but his account is even more evidence that it was necessary to form it.

Obama and the betrayal of the Kurds

What is unfolding in the Syrian town of Kobane is a cautionary tale on the danger of alliance warfare and an object lesson of the fearsome duplicity of the Obama administration. If you have been following the story, there may be as many as 40,000 Kurds, residents and refugees, on the city of Kobane. They are just a few hundred yards from the Turkish border but effectively surrounded by ISIS fighters.

Follow the Money: Susan G. Komen

Pink is now one of the traditional colors of fall, having joined the shades of reds, oranges and yellows. The lion’s share of the credit is due to Susan G. Komen’s brilliant branding of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October. From small lapel pins and ribbons to uniforms and equipment on the football field, the color pink has become synonymous with Komen’s and others’ efforts to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, a worthy and important cause which affects 232,000 women every year.
