Leader Cantor: House Preserves and Modernizes Medicare Using Savings of an Individual Mandate Delay
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader
Eric Cantor (R-VA) today released the following statement on House
passage of the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization
Act:
“As the President continues to take actions that threaten
Medicare, the House is committed to ensuring this program is intact for
seniors who rely on it. Modernizing how Medicare reimburses doctors is
critical to this effort. Using the savings generated by an Individual
Mandate delay already partially in effect to protect and modernize
Medicare makes sense. The President has already essentially waived the
Individual Mandate for all Americans, so why not use those savings to
this end? I thank Dr. Burgess and Chairmen Dave Camp, Fred Upton, Joe
Pitts, and Kevin Brady for their work on this important issue and I urge
the Senate to take up and pass this common sense bill immediately.”
