SANDOVAL STICKS SHIV IN CONSERVATIVE BACKS…AGAIN

I’m warning you all again: I don’t want to hear any bitching and kvetching if I end up not supporting Gov. Brian Sandoval’s re-election next year.  This guy has been worse for conservatives than any of us ever imagined when he was running in 2010…and this latest example really takes the cake.

Have you read about how the IRS has been targeting conservative and tea party organizations for the past couple of years?  Well, get this...

AB60, put forward by Democrat Secretary of State Ross Miller, would force small non-profit conservative organizations to not only file reports with the IRS, but withHIS OFFICE, as well.

Miller - a hyper-partisan who wants to be attorney general and eventually governor - has already been targeting conservative organizations as SoS - including lawsuits against Citizen Outreach and Americans for Prosperity over other campaign reports he wrongly claims we are required to file with his office.

Can you imagine what he’ll do to us with even MORE power?

Here’s a summary of AB60 from a story in Wednesday’s the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

“Under the (new) law, every nonprofit organization that intends to solicit tax-deductible contributions must file reports with the secretary of state before they seek any funds. That information includes names and telephone numbers of officers, whether the organization is tax exempt, the organization’s federal tax number, the purpose of the organization and its federal financial reports. The charity also must disclose if donations to it are not tax deductible. This information is public record and will be posted on the secretary of state’s website.”

It is an unnecessary reporting burden that duplicates information already supplied to the IRS.  Alas, the bill passed in the Senate with all but the two conservative Republicans – James Settelmeyer and Don Gustavson – voting with the Democrats.

But in the Assembly, all 15 Republicans – from conservative Michele Fiore to RINOLynn Stewart – voted against this absolutely horrible bill that will arm Miller with all manner of new authority and weapons to attack conservative organizations.

Democrats, of course, passed the bill over the GOP’s opposition and sent the bill to the governor…whose veto would have been upheld in the Assembly because all 15 Republicans would have prevented the Democrats from getting the 2/3 they’d need to override the veto.

But instead, Sandoval SIGNED THE BILL!

This guy makes Kenny Guinn look like Barry Goldwater

My kingdom for a credible, viable GOP primary challenger.

Where have you gone, Bob Beers?

TAX-HIKING REPUBLICANS STRIKE AGAIN

I’m starting to remember why I left the GOP back in 2007!

I expect Democrats to raise taxes; that’s just what they do.

I expect better from Republicans.

Which brings me to this revolting Carson City dispatch today from our resident conservative “citizen lobbyist,” Janine Hansen

“AB46 Passed the Assembly 32 to 8. Republicans (Pat) Hickey and (Randy) Kirner led the way to amend AB46 because they knew it could not pass the Legislature with a 2/3rds vote. The amended version of AB46 bypasses the required 2/3rds vote of the Legislature.

“It now allows the County Commission, by a 2/3rds vote, to impose a new sales tax of ¼ of 1 percent of the gross receipts of retailers to deposit in the school districts fund for capital projects (buildings). I believe they are imposing this on retailers because without a vote of the people they can’t change the regular sales tax, but you will pay it just the same.

“It will also allow the County Commission to impose a new property tax at the rate of 5 cents on each $100 of assessed valuation.  This new property tax is exempt from the existing limit of $3.64 per $100. Why have a limit if you are going to pass new taxes and exempt them from the limit? It now goes to the Senate.”

Where you can bet Sen. Moderate Mike Roberson and his Dirty Half-Dozen Gang will give the D’s the votes they need to pass it there, as well.

For the record: None of the tax-hiking Assembly Republicans who voted for this tax hike – Hickey, Kirner, Tom GradyLynn Stewart and Melissa Woodbury – are signers of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

And none of the Tax Pledge signers voted for this effort to increase taxes.

Go figure.
