STUPIDITY VIRUS STRIKES KANSAS
It is absolutely amazing at how many of the stupidest incidences and decisions made in America occur in government-run public schools. The latest example comes this week from Kansas…
“Kansas high schooler Courtney Widener was understandably delighted when her 22-year-old brother Casey, a member of the Air Force, came home for a weekend during his deployment in Afghanistan. She was somewhat less enthusiastic when (school) officials refused to let him escort her to her prom - or even along a ‘red carpet’ outside the dance. Instead, Casey left his sister at the edge of the red carpet and saluted as she entered alone. School officials said allowing Casey to attend the prom would have violated a rule governing the age of attendees…”
Un-freaking believable! Have these people NO common sense whatsoever?
The principal, Keith Adams, has since apologized; not for the stupidity of his decision to boot the airman, but for how the airman might have felt about the stupidity of the principal’s decision.
“I am sorry that Casey Widener was offended or dishonored in any way," Adams said this week.
But wait. Here’s the punchline…
The name of the school?
Liberal High School!
Now it all makes perfect sense.
URGE “MODERATE MIKE” TO SCRAM
In case you missed it yesterday, you can still add your name to a letter going out next week to “Republican” State Sen. “Moderate Mike” Roberson asking him to embrace a little “truth in political labeling” by changing parties and re-registering as the Democrat he’s become.
To tell you the truth, I really didn’t expect a lot of people to sign the letter…maybe a dozen or two at most.
Thing is, Roberson is in a very powerful position and most folks are afraid to upset powerful people. Also, some conservatives have a natural inclination to avoid controversy, while many Republicans live by the motto, “My guy, right or wrong.”
But we already have over 100 signers (including one very high-ranking Nevada GOP official)…and still counting!
We’ll continue to collect signatures on the letter through the end of the week and deliver it to Sen. Roberson the first of next week, so if you haven’t signed on yet, just click on the link above and add your name. In the meantime, here’s a funny twist to the effort…
After Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Steve Sebelius tweeted about our letter urging Moderate Mike to join the Democrats, Clark County Commissioner and former Nevada Democratic Party Chairman Tom Collins replied: “No Thanks”!
And certainly the Independent American and Libertarian parties, who cherish the virtue of standing on principle, will have nothing to do with Moderate Mike. Looks like he could end up belonging to an independent party of one!

In case you’re on Twitter and not yet “following” me, over the weekend I took by son to the Scout Mega Expo camping trip out at Floyd Lamb State Park. Among the somewhat non-political tweets from the camp...
My observation that the kick-off event included both the Star Spangled Banner and “YMCA.” The transition to gay-friendly scouting is obviously well under way!
Late night report from just outside my tent: Some dumbass got drunk, fell into the pond, cracked his head open and had to be dragged out by some Scouts and patched up. Which led me to this conclusion: There are lots of married heterosexual couples who shouldn't breed!
And finally this frightening little end-of-trip experience: “Gia found a black widow on my sleeping bag this morning! Does anyone know where new teacher’s union boss Ruben Murillo was last night?”
