The Absolute Power Game
President Lincoln was right, and over the next 50 years, financiers grew in power. There was even a cartoon by Robert Minor in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 1911 depicting J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie and other financiers welcoming Karl Marx’s “Socialism.” But how, one might ask, could these men of wealth like Socialism? It’s because monopoly capitalism actually turns out to be a form of corporate Socialism (and even Fascism in extreme cases), where beholden politicians.....
