AB 1797 passed the California Legislature with only Democrats voting "yes" (including “independent” Chad Mayes). Yet both times AB 1797 was on the Assembly floor, no Republican spoke out to expose its harm. This was despite all of them receiving our analysis detailing the wrongness of AB 1797. What to do now? In my opinion, there need to be up to three federal lawsuits: One for how AB 1797 violates HIPAA confidentiality, another for how it violates the California Constitution (see our analysis), and another for how it might racially discriminate. Clarence, thank you if you protested this tyrannical, dangerous, dehumanizing bill, with your calls, emails, or personal lobbying. Your medical freedom values are what more people need to have! Under AB 1797, the biggest invasion of privacy and biggest tracking of adults comes from the bill's requirement that all "health care providers" send your vaccination record to the state government database. This means hospitals, clinics, doctors in private practice, dentists, psychologist, social workers, etc. We all are going to have to tell our health care providers "none of your business" when they ask their nosey, dehumanizing questions, so they write "would not say." Or, to not be tracked, would it best to say "fully vaccinated"? Again, this is among the most dehumanizing, tyrannical oppression of already-born Californians -- continuing into the future -- that we've seen. I hope and pray for a successful federal lawsuit striking down this monstrosity. |
