Baruch Hashem Adonai כבוד שם יהוה
#ShabbatShalom - Welcome to 5781, Parsha Rosh Hashanah - ראש השנה which begins for 2 days at sunset on Friday September 18th, 2020. The Torah portion for the first day of Rosh Hashanah is about the birth of Isaac, and the portion for the second day is on the Akedah, or the binding of Isaac (both of which foreshadow the great Lamb of God). The Musaf (additional service) includes extra benedictions added to the normal Amidah, emphasizing God's Kingship, the remembrance of our days, and the call of the shofar to usher in the Messianic Kingdom at the end of days. Please read along with us as we study this portion. We know you will be blessed.

Rosh Hashanah (or better, Yom Teruah) is therefore a sacred time that has prophetic significance for the Messianic believer, since it commemorates both the creation of the mankind by Adonai as well as the "calling up" of the new creation at the behest of Yeshua, when the sound of the heavenly shofar inaugurates the anticipated End of Days (1 Cor. 15:51-54; 1 Thess. 4:15-18). Indeed, "teruah" (תְּרוּעָה) is a "calling up" signal for those who belong to Messiah, sounded during the opening of the "Gate to the Wedding" of the great Lamb of God. It also prefigures the coming Day of the LORD and Great Tribulation period that marks God's judgment on an unbelieving world...

A Rosh Hashanah Seder A Simplified Guide for Christians (16 page pdf)

On the first day of Rosh Hashanah after the afternoon prayer, we go to a lake, river or sea (preferably a body of water that has fish), and recite the Tashlich prayers, wherein we symbolically cast our sins into the water and leave our old shortcomings behind us, thus starting the new year with a clean slate. If the first day of Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat, Tashlich is done on the second day of Rosh Hashanah. If unable to perform this ceremony on Rosh Hashanah, one may do so until the last day of Sukkot (this year, October 9, 2020).

Happy Jewish New Year - blowing the shofar (Psalm 150:3)

L'Shanah Tovah
May you have a blessed Jewish New Year

"On the first day of the seventh month hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.  It is a day for you to sound the trumpets
[Yom Teruah]."  (Numbers 29:1)

The High Holy Days have once again arrived, and the two-day holiday of Rosh HaShanah (traditional Jewish New Year) begins tonight!

In the Bible, Rosh HaShanah is called Yom Teruah, the day of sounding the shofar.  (Leviticus 23:24)

A Jewish boy dips apples in honey on Rosh HaShanah.

Holiday Traditions

One of the best known symbols of the Jewish New Year is dipping apples in honey.  This wonderful Rosh HaShanah tradition symbolizes our hope that the new year will be sweet.

Apples are not the only fruit eaten during Rosh HaShanah.

Tomorrow night, on the second night of Rosh HaShanah, we will eat pomegranate.  One explanation for the tradition of eating pomegranates is that this fruit was once thought to have 613 seeds, which reminds us of the Torah's 613 commandments.

The pomegranate, therefore, symbolizes our hope that our actions will be in line with the Word of God and that our righteous deeds will increase in the year to come.

Eating pomegranates on New Year's symbolizes our desire to fulfill God's commandments.

From our Bibles For Israel ministry family to you...
Have a happy, healthy, and sweet Jewish New Year!

The Jewish people (the People of the Book)
gave the world the BIBLE. Today there are about 14 million
Jewish people in the world though most have never studied
the Messianic Prophecies. Finally, for the first time, there will
be a Hebrew Messianic Prophecy Bible, based on the
Ancient Dead Sea Scrolls and Masoretic texts translated
into hundreds of languages, exposing the true meanings.

Many have falsely said that God is finished with His
Chosen People; however, Bible prophecy clearly states that
this will never be so. In fact, in these Last Days, God is moving
among His people to physically and spiritually restore them.
