As Hurricane Ian approaches Florida, I encourage you to check your supplies and emergency plan. The more prepared we are for this storm, the better. Please continue to watch or listen to your local stations for announcements about evacuations, boil water notices, and warnings. If you have not signed up for alerts from your county, please do so here.

Above all, I encourage you to stay positive but alert. We’re in this together, and we will get through this storm.

The National Weather Service (NWS) suggests the following steps to take before the storm:

Prepare a hurricane emergency kit with water, food, flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, and more.
Create and review your family emergency plan – where you will go in the event of an emergency, how you will stay in contact with each other, and more.
Stay up to date on the weather and understand the meanings of the National Weather Service’s watches and warnings.
