Last week, Deputy Truman was off duty near a local Publix when he observed Ocala Police Department Officer Boyer in a foot pursuit with a suspect. The suspect had attempted to cash a fraudulent check and fled from Officer Boyer when confronted. Deputy Truman, who was in civilian clothing, “did not hesitate in assisting” Officer Boyer. Thank you, Deputy Truman, for going above and beyond while off-duty! And thank you, Officer Boyer, for highlighting this story! Read more here.

More than 100 people gathered Tuesday morning along the coast near the Carousel Supermarket in Panama City Beach to watch members of the Gulf World Marine Institute release a more than 200-pound loggerhead sea turtle back into the Gulf of Mexico. Leo the turtle, who is over 50 years old, was rehabilitated and tagged by the institute after it was found in October "floating and lethargic near the shore" of the beach. Great work, everyone! Read more here.
