FLORIDA - SENATOR RICK SCOTT ON SCHOOLS 02/25/2021

In Case You Missed It!

Sen. Rick Scott: Schools Need to Reopen and Our Kids Need to Get Back to School

For nearly a year, Senator Scott has been working to ensure schools can reopen safely and students can get back to school. The science is clear and overwhelming that reopening our schools is safe and necessary for the wellbeing of our students.

Teachers should be able to receive vaccines, and Senator Scott will work with his colleagues to get vaccines to teachers more quickly. Congress has already allocated $68 billion to ensure to ensure students and teachers have safe, clean and healthy classrooms. Keeping schools closed doesn’t make sense, and it’s hurting our children and America’s poorest families the most.

Every student deserves the option of in-person learning. Senator Scott is committing to protecting the best interests of our students and ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed.

Senators Rick Scott, Marco Rubio and Colleagues Introduce Bill to Get Students Back in School

Earlier this month, Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Marco Rubio and colleagues in introducing the Put Students First Act of 2021, which would prohibit federal funding to schools that do not provide an in-person learning option by April 30, 2021.

In January, leading health experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended that America’s schools should reopen as soon as possible if precautions are taken – namely mask-wearing and social distancing – and that new scientific research provides “a path forward to maintain or return primarily or fully to in-person instructional delivery."

Senator Rick Scott said, “Health experts, students and parents agree: schools need to reopen and our kids need to get back to school. The only people who don’t want to open schools are Senate Democrats and the teachers unions that fund their campaigns. That’s wrong. Schools can openly safely and every student should have the option of in-person learning."
