GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT Dear Friend, I’m back in Washington, D.C. this week working with my colleagues on the next COVID-19 relief package. I know many of you are still feeling the weight of this pandemic. It’s been far from easy. As we approach the anniversary, we must remain resilient and strong in order to defeat this virus. Here are a few stories that will help you through the week – This month, the Holmes County High School JROTC Robotics Team visited Apopka, Florida to compete in the Orange County Finale Change-up Robotics Competition against 44 robotics teams from throughout Florida. Teammates Skyler Sapia, Quindarius Williams, and Gavin Braddy placed 18th out of 45, and qualified for the national competition in Dallas, TX. Congratulations! I know you’ll continue to make us proud in Dallas. Read more here.
AMVETS Post 1776 completed its donation of a Patriot Bell Tower and Carillon to the Tallahassee National Cemetery on February 12th. This project is five-plus years in the making, and the perseverance has certainly paid off. This Patriot Tower through its Carillon will play TAPS and other programable songs and Westminster chimes on demand. Read more here. Williston, a town with a population of less than 3,000, was recently chosen by Homestead Tiny House Co. for a new tiny house resort. The team saw potential in the Florida small town due to its proximity to several noticeable sights like Devil’s Den Spring and Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens. The resort opened during the COVID-19 pandemic but continues to stay busy. This is great news for residents and the local economy. Read more here.
