Twitter's robots are watching and know when you are about to be mean Headline: Twitter knows when you're being mean. Now it will tell you, too. The First take: Social media is watching you and monitoring what you are about to say, even before you say it. Seriously, Twitter's artificial intelligence now has the ability to see what you are about to post and if the algorithms deem you draft post to be "mean," you will be offered the chance to soften your statements. We would call this "Orwellian" but that label has been used so many times in the past year it's starting to lose it's meaning. Uh oh, jobs numbers were well under expectations, unemployment rises Headline: Economy adds 266K jobs in April, far below expectations The First take: Not only did today's employment data dissapoint on a massive scale, last month's "blowout" jobs numbers have been revised lower by...15%! We wonder what's happening. Is the post-vaccine economic resurgence faltering? Are COVID unemployment benefits creating an incentive for people to not return to work? Or, are the business prognosticators just clueless? Probably a little bit of everything.
