Fauci says approved J&J vaccine clotting issues are similar to AZ's

HeadlineFauci: 'Strong similarities' between Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca clotting issues

The First take: With Dr. Fauci announcing the pause in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine over a single death and a handful of reactions we wondered if the issues with blood clots were similar to those reported overseas by countries using the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. Now we learn the clotting issues from both vaccines have "strong similarities." We suspect there is much more to know on this story. And we will stay on it.

Biden's 9/11 pull out from Afghanistan triggers unity against it

HeadlineBiden sparks bipartisan backlash on Afghanistan withdrawal

The First take: The original deal between the US and the Taliban had American troops leaving by May 1st of this year. We will miss that deadline, but President Biden is announcing all U.S. troops (approximately 2500 of them) will be out of the region by September 11th -- the anniversary of the attack that brought us to the country. Will our departure trigger the rebirth of the Taliban? There are voices on the left and the right saying this move is sending the wrong signal. Stay tuned.

Warren and Dems still pushing Biden to forgive $50k in student loan debt

HeadlineForgiving $50K in school loans would free 36 million student borrowers from debt: data

The First take: After loading up trillions in debt during the pandemic, adding almost two more trillion in "relief" and proposing another two trillion of your money to be spent on things now defined as "infrastructure," Elizabeth Warren is once again claiming Biden can forgive up to $50K in student loan debt. This kind of government giveaway will do almost nothing for the poorest Americans while excusing the bad financial decisions of tens of millions and asking the rest of us to pay for it. Does it feel like every Democrat is rushing to push through their pet projects and gigantic government handouts ahead of the 2022 midterms? It does to us.
