Dear Friend,

This week, Congress is back in Session in Washington, D.C. While D.C. has a lot to offer, I always miss the Florida sunshine. Luckily, these stories were enough to brighten my day --

Alyssa Morris, a Junior at Deane Bozeman School, received a huge surprise last week from a generous donor and the Bozeman school administrators. After quitting her part-time job to focus more on school, the administration has worked to help Alyssa stay on track while managing some financial hardships. The donor who gifted the student a Nissan requested to remain anonymous. Thank you to everyone in the community who helped pull this together for such a deserving young lady. Read more here.

The Suwannee County Fire Department, the Live Oak Fire Department, and the Live Oak Police Department are teaming up for the fifth annual Hometown Heroes Hit a Home Run Against Domestic Violence. The fun-filled rivalry game will take place this Saturday, and the proceeds will go to the local domestic violence shelter. Thank you to all of the first responders for going above and beyond for your communities! Read more here.

A local Florida Highway Patrol trooper has been recognized for thousands of hours on the job. Major Stephen Pigott is a member of the FHP Auxiliary, has dedicated years to the service, and is still going strong after five decades. The FHP Auxiliary is a professionally trained, all-volunteer law enforcement organization that provides direct assistance to troopers. Thank you, Major Pigott, for your dedication and service! Read more here.
